About
I graduated from the University of Texas with a BBA in finance in 1979 and from the University of Houston Law School with a JD degree with honors in 1984. I was on the University of Houston Law Review, had a comment published in the Houston Law Review, and received other academic awards. I began my practice as a litigator in a mid-sized firm and eventually came to practice in the areas of creditors' rights and bankruptcy. I joined Martin, Disiere, Jefferson & Wisdom,LLP, as Of Counsel to the firm, in November 2003. Prior to joining MDJW, I was the managing partner of Williams & Tinkham for 14 years. I have extensive experience in bankruptcy, creditors' rights, and commercial litigation. In recent years, a significant portion of my practice has been bankruptcy litigation and representing creditors in bankruptcy proceedings. I have collected hundreds of judgments over the years, and am well versed in exemption issues, turnover orders and receiverships, and dormancy issues. Much of my commercial litigation practice has been representing financial institutions against corporate debtors and guarantors. I also have experience in real estate related matters, including title issues and landlord/tenant litigation. I am licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Texas, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and have appeared pro hac vice in bankruptcy courts outside of Texas.
