About
I have lived in Appleton, Wisconsin my entire life other than attending college in Madison and law school in Chicago. I started my own law practice within the first year of graduating from law school, and continue to work with my same partners at our law firm Hammett, Bellin & Oswald, LLC. I am proud of the quality of individuals representing our law firm and am happy that we have helped so many people over the years. I am an active member of our community and serve in many different ways. I have been active on various Boards including as Treasurer of the Boys & Girls Club, President of Rebuilding Together-Fox Valley, and member of Emerging Leaders of the United Way. I am also active in our local parish and enjoy coaching youth basketball. My wife, Chris, and I presently reside in Appleton with our three children.

Would recommend attorney Jeff Oswald to anyone looking for top notch legal representation. Was facing a 2nd owi conviction and Jeff got it amended to a reckless driving instead of the owi!! Amazing work!
One evening last fall, I was driving home from a Packer game and was pulled over for speeding. I was charged with speeding (40mph in a 25), a second DUI, and a refusal to submit to a breathalyzer, with a BAC of .182. Needless to say, I was extremely rattled at all of those charges I was facing. I immediately contacted Jeff Oswald and it turns out that it was the best phone call I could have ever made. He met with me immediately and told me flat out what I was facing and what he thought he could do to work on getting the charges reduced with the DA. The first thing Jeff did right off the bat was contact the arresting officer, as I learned from Jeff that the officer incorrectly charged me for a 2nd DUI. As it turns out, although it was a 2nd DUI in my lifetime, according to the law it should've been charged as a first DUI, as this second offense happened outside of 10 years from my first offense. 10 years and 11 days to be exact! Jeff then filed paperwork on my behalf and I was able to keep driving (vs face a mandatory 45 day license suspension right away for the refusal). When I walked out of Jeff's office, I knew I was in good hands. Jeff and his assistant Amy, know the laws, are very professional, responsive and are non judgmental. They don't sugarcoat what the outcome may be, but tell you upfront what they believe they can do for you. Jeff did exactly what he had hoped to accomplish for me: I paid a fine, enrolled in driver safety classes and obtained an occupational license for 7 months. He was able to reach a plea agreement with the judge where I plead guilty to a 1st DUI but with a reduced blood alcohol content of .149. This plea allowed me to avoid having an interlock installed on my car. I am a professional salesperson and travel a lot in my line of work, and did not want to have to deal with that!! Jeff also managed to convince the DA and judge to throw the refusal and speeding ticket out as well! I really felt my sentence was beyond fair and am 100% completely satisfied. I hope you never do find yourself in a similar situation like mine, but if you do, please know that it's SO worth the peace of mind to call Attorney Jeff Oswald.
I highly recommend Attorney Jeff Oswald. He represented my case in a very professional, respectful and effective manner. His negotiation skills delivered a positive outcome to a complicated case. Jeff communicates with the client efficiently throughout your case. I would definitely work with Jeff again!
Jefferey did an amazing job. He was quick to answer all of my questions and concerns, remained in contact throughout the duration of the case, and achieved the best possible outcome. I would highly recommend him to anyone facing a similar situation as myself.
Attorney Oswald was knowledgeable, calming, and very successful at navigating a DUI ticket our son received. He always responded quickly to all of our calls. He, along with his staff, helped us understand the process from the ticket, hearings, filings, DMV and auto insurance needs. We highly recommend him.
Had a felony eluding, and was able to get it reduced to a misdemeanor, With no jail time; or anything! This was on top of a DUI and that went smooth to. If you want the best attorney in the state go to him, you won’t have regrets I promise.
In the summer of 2020, I was on a road trip alone, coming from chicago, and passing through Wisconsin. I was on the highway shoulder crying about something personal and an officer came to check on me. I was arrested for driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. I contacted Jeff after I mistakenly missed my first court appearance, as I had two separate charges. They made a process that I easily convoluted with anxieties, doubt, and confusion streamlined, and brought a sense of calm with very clear communication and honest answers. They can't wish your case away, however Jeff made an effort to make every step of the process better and easier including how I was to appear during a state of quarantine, answering questions via email and phone when I had my own doubts or fears(not a therapist lol, but very clear when they have a moment), and making sure I got the best outcome to their ability. Akin to playing his heart out. It felt like more than a win to have a misdemeanor excused. It felt like awe to have just fines after I faced jail time. Jeff is amazing, and the office is just as beautiful. The team made me feel human every time I called in. Extremely validating, and a lovely experience considering we all weren't going to a water park. Yes to the office of Hammett, Bellin, and Oswald. Glad ya'll exist. Thank you Jeff!
I'll just start by saying if you're in a bind and actively researching Fox Valley-area attorneys- as I was- then you have finally found the right guy. Title kind of says it all. I was charged with something which left me personally devastated, and also had the very real potential to damage the career I have worked so hard to build. I am sure glad I did my research. Looked at everyone in the area, but no one had the same ratings as Jeff. No one had detailed reviews like Jeff either. So many success stories from happy clients. I spoke w/ Jeff on the phone for the first time and he gave me some background on the charge, what to expect, the process, and the timeline. At that time, from his frank & appreciated perspective, there wasn't much room to improve my situation. He did however agree to take a swing at it. That was my mission from the outset: not going to take this sitting down. I paid him a reasonable fee and off we went. My intake and subsequent pretrial conference dates were way, way out, so I had a lot of time to sit around and worry about all the bad things that could happen. Being such a legal novice (this is my first real go around as an adult), I called him a few different times to either get a status or ask him any of the crazy questions I'd conjured up over the past weeks. Each time, either he or Amy would get back to me asap and help clear things up. I sincerely appreciated it... that feeling of impending legal doom can be quite a weight on a set of inexperienced shoulders. I don't want to get into the details of the actual negotiation- all I will say is that Jeff did a tremendous job using the information provided to him to argue for a reduced charge. And the City Attorney clearly agreed. I went from something that would follow me around for 10 years, prevent me from renting cars, bar me entry to Canada, etc. to a reduced charge equivalent to a petty traffic violation. Night and day. This is the person that will maximize your outcome. Stop looking.
I was able to work with Attorney Oswald and his assistant Amy Alexander and they were both amazing in their diligence to help me with my case and ensure I had all the answers I needed to settle my legal case. Their professionalism and communication were outstanding. I would definitely recommend this firm for any legal needs. Great experience overall having . Attorney Oswald represent me. He understands his client, is very insightful and an expert in his field. Truly a professional. The attorney and his team executed my dissolution expeditiously and fairly. Highly recommend their services!!!!!
I highly recommend the law firm of Hammett, Bellin & Oswald. Jeff Oswald and his team were professional, courteous, responsive, and effective. The process was properly explained from the beginning, the charges were more than fair, and most important of all, the outcome was more than desirable.
