About
Mr. Cranmer founded Peakside Law in October 2018 after returning to Northwest Colorado from the Front Range, having spent several years litigating cases for firms in Denver and Colorado Springs. His background gives him extraordinary trial experience, from criminal defense – Mr. Cranmer was a District Attorney in Steamboat for several years – to personal injury jury trials, and most importantly, family law. His multi-disciplinary background gives him the capacity to relate to each client on a personal and knowledgeable level. Mr. Cranmer attended the University of Kansas where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. He then attended the Denver University Sturm College of Law where he was a member of the Denver University Law Review and graduated with his Juris Doctorate in 2003. Mr. Cranmer enjoys family law because of the challenge of a courtroom. He takes pleasure in knowing he has assisted every client to fight for their rights and what they believe in for their families. At the end of the day, Mr. Cramer feels like he is helping people, and that inspires him to aggressively argue for each client’s position. Mr. Cranmer knows it is important that clients understand the process every step of the way and that in family law it is important for the process to be handled as amicably as possible, but he ensures that if that isn’t what happens, each clients’ rights are protected. Our Colorado courts prefer 50/50 parenting time, but Mr. Cranmer understands that equal parenting time is best only when both parents are normal, caring parents. If that is not your situation, Mr. Cranmer is ready and able to fight for what is best for your children.

Jay was the third lawyer I had seen that day. After twice being told ‘this will take a lot of “ and the “ well you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t... maybe you just shouldn’t “ I felt completely hopeless. I went online fearful , desperate to find someone to help and I came across Jay’s info and called. I was in his office two hours later. He was everything I needed to help get through this situation. High conflict divorce, spouse not returning child after summer visit etc... He was the balanced, strong person I desperately needed in my corner. He had things resolved sufficiently and quickly. You won’t be disappointed.
Jay handled my divorce case in Colorado Springs. He is very diligent about getting questions answered and in a timely manner; most of the time he replied to a question almost instantly. In my opinion he is an excellent lawyer and I would recommend him to anyone going through the hell of divorce. He is a very calm and intuitive man; trust his advice. But if you have a number in mind for the settlement let him know upfront and stick with it if you feel confident; he will back you 100%. His paralegal Krista is just a wonderful lady, professional but with a very caring heart. She also answered questions almost instantly and was always available when I called her. I felt that all the people at the law firm that I had contact with were caring and helpful throughout this awful time in my life. They helped me to move forward with dignity and respect and I appreciate that very much.
I had some very specific questions about a custody case that I am already waste deep in. It boiled down to me making a choice between two possibilites and one of them meant not seeking any legal representation (a.k.a. Mr. Cramner not getting hired or paid). He patiently answered all of my questions and was very pleasant to talk to. I felt that he gave me thorough explanations without coming across bias. I expected to be pushed into a certain direction. I was not. I left the lengthy conversation feeling like I got some solid advice from an attorney who seems to genuinely care. I also felt calmed and not in such a panicked state as when I first called. I can only assume Mr. Cramner exudes the same compassion and professionalism with paying clients. I would absolutely use him in the future based off our phone conversation.
Jay Cranmer helped me navigate a potentially difficult and contentious divorce in a smooth and non-confrontational manner. What struck me about Jay's style was his emphasis on identifying alternatives that minimized conflict and litigation, while also achieving my objectives. Jay has outstanding ethical standards and his commitment to achieving resolution without exacerbating family conflict. An adept communicator and problem solver, Jay resolves the vast majority of cases through negotiation, mediation, and Collaborative Law. But when litigation is necessary to bring matters to closure, Jay excels as a skilled advocate in the courtroom.
Jay Cranmer handled my divorce last year. I have no complaints. I explained to him the circumstances of my separation and he made sure I kept all of the assets I wanted. I worked with him and Amanda, his paralegal, and the entire process was easy and stress free.
