About
As a native of Northern Virginia, I have here focused my practice on providing sound and balanced representation to clients navigating the difficult legal waters of family law, including contested divorce, custody, support, and equitable distribution. My persuasive style has been well received in courtrooms throughout Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, and is sustained by a body of experience sufficient to deliver sophisticated results for my clients. In 2015, for example, through negotiation or litigation, my firm handled the equitable distribution of more than half a billion dollars in assets. Television and radio personalities, professional athletes, tech company founders, and politicians have consulted with the firm. I have personally represented clients in Maryland and the District of Columbia who control eight-figure family asset portfolios and clients in Virginia who control nine-figure family asset portfolios. We regularly receive client referrals from large Washington, D.C. law firms and other divorce lawyers in the metropolitan area. My professional experience includes practicing alongside the partners of several of Northern Virginia’s most prestigious boutique family law firms and serving as a clerk for the judges of the U.S. Tax Court. My legal acumen has been recognized by my inclusion in Forbes Magazine, Self Magazine, Washingtonian Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine, Washington Business Journal, Super Lawyers, and Ten Leaders in the Law, among other publications. I am also the author of the popular Virginia Family Law Blog: www.familylawva.com.Areas of Practice: Contested Divorce, High Asset/Complex Divorce, Spousal Support, Child Support, Child Visitation and Custody, Equitable Distribution, and Prenuptial Agreement Review

I am 2 years out and thankful to Jason that I am not paying alimony (which apparently is not the case for most men.) Talking to friends who have been through the nuclear holocaust of divorce express that for that reason they are never truly finished with the ordeal. I can happily say that I'm truly finished. Thanks again Jason.
It had been seven years since the divorce when I turned to Jason to handle my request to modify/ terminate spousal support. Throughout the process, starting with our initial consultation to the final decision by the judge, he demonstrated exceptional expertise together with strong interpersonal skills. His outstanding representation resulted in my case being decided much in my favor. I recommend him highly.
Jason A. Weis is the perfect pick! If you are someone who is going through a contentious child support/divorce and need a top notch lawyer on your side then look no further. I was lucky to have Jason Weis representing me. Jason, has the ability to assess any difficult situation and provide honest and thorough advice within the scope of the law that is beneficial to the client. Mr. Weis effortlessly navigated through the minefields that my ex-wife and opposing counsel attempted to lay out. Jason was able to understand the intricacies of my case and responded with a strategic yet realistic action plan that awarded me the outcome my daughter and I needed. I admire Mr. Weis’s calm, professional and eloquent demeanor. He did not wavier to the baseless threats or irate behavior of opposing council but rather took charge and spoke only based on facts. I truly believe it was Mr. Weis’s professionalism, knowledge, patience and most importantly his virtuous heart that got me through this challenging time. I am eternally grateful and would recommend Mr. Weis to anyone who is seeking assistant with divorce/child support/custody.
Jason handled my very messy divorce. Complicated custody situation, property disputes, police reports, CPS, custody evaluation - just to name a few things that we had to deal with. Jason always had the situation under control. He will never promise you results that he cannot guarantee, he is very realistic and practical. In the end, Jason was a superstar during the trial. He had an impressive mastery of all the confusing facts related to my case and ultimately I got the result that I've was looking for on all accounts. Jason's team is also very professional and easy to deal with. Highly recommend!
Five years ago, when I was entering a high conflict divorce battle, Jason was recommended to me by a reputable attorney. During the very first consultation, Jason appeared to be trustworthy, smart, professional and yet, personable. I had no desire to look further. Jason has been my lawyer for over five years representing me before three different county courts. He was available to discuss any issue 24/7! He won every case (we had a lot!!!) in both trial and appellate courts. I always felt that Jason was a godsend and I have been so blessed to have him by my side. There are no words to express my gratitude to him personally nor to the firm’s team that is equally very professional and supportive.
I can't speak highly enough of Jason Weis and his team. They did a wonderful job from the word "go" in simplifying and walking me through a challenging and convoluted divorce process. Curran Moher Weis is among the top family law firms in Virginia for a reason, and Jason and his team are significant contributors to their success story. I would give my unconditional recommendation for Jason as an attorney; he's personable and efficient, takes his work seriously, and I found him and his team to be both accessible and responsive.
Jason has been and continues to be great counsel. My case had already been through substantial litigation by the time I came across Jason. From day 1 he was and always is prepared, well researched, has done his homework. He is able to maintain clear arguments thru and with lots of conflicting detail... he is able to follow the bouncing ball in spite of chaff from the opposing side. He is good in the courtroom, able to keep focus through ridiculously convoluted and complex issues. He is assertive but not combative and knows when to turn it up a notch to deal with a tough, non cooperative witness. He keeps my focus and helps me not lose the Forrest thru the trees. High conflict divorce and custody matters are ridiculously expensive and he responsibly manages cost as best he can, but knows when to spend the time and be as thorough as necessary to hit the homer. My trials and tribulations will continue I am sure, and I can't think of better counsel to have in my corner. Without a doubt I recommend him!
I could not be happier with my divorce! I'm sure that's not something many people say. However, Jason and his associate Steven Goldman really listened to my needs and priorities. My only priority was protecting my children. In that vein, I was want to drag my (volatile, difficult) ex to court. Although I felt we could "win" in court, "winning" was never the point. The point was providing a loving, stable home for my children and a drawn-out court case was not going to benefit them. That said, did I mention that my ex is "difficult"? Hiring Jason, a well known litigator, to settle my case would ensure I was prepared go to court if needed. We tried exchanging documents, but were met with slow responses and backtracking on the other side. Eventually, we filed. Mediation had been mentioned, but I was concerned that a mediator would just be looking at "middle ground" and not what's best for the children. In addition, I had tried mediation through a counselor before I hired Jason and it went nowhere. Once we filed, the opposing attorney pressed for mediation and Steven (mediation expert) convinced me that it was worth a try. The retired judge who mediated was of course knowledgeable, but also very caring and considered. I truly felt he had the best interest of my children at heart. Both Jason & Steven came to the day of mediation and each provided a unique perspective based on their litigation and mediation experiences. I felt prepared and well-informed for any outcome. Working with the retired judge, Jason & Steven came up with a creative solution which not only solved the immediate visitation issues, but also provided for "what if...". They held firm to protect my interests and the kids, sometimes without even consulting me. They worked late into the evening to make sure we did not walk away without a signed settlement and during that LONG day, neither of them multi-tasked or worked on any other case. They were entirely focused on me and my case. When I walked into Jason's office, I was looking for someone to protect my children. When I walked away from mediation, I knew that Jason & Steven had not only secured the best possible solution for my children, they had seen a need I hadn't verbalized and taken care of ME along the way. I am deeply grateful to them and if this agreement doesn't go according to plan, they will be the only ones I would call.
I was dreading the divorce process until I met Jason Weis. He helped me thoroughly understand my rights and how to protect my assets. He really made my divorce a breeze! His team and office is so professional and effiecint. I would refer anyone getting a divorce to hire Jason Weis!
Jason provided sound advice in a professional manner. He is extremely efficient and timely with all interactions. I had high expectations as a divorce can be a difficult situation. Jason helped me address all my issues expediently and completely. He was an outstanding advocate for my financial issues during the divorce and also was considerate of his own expenses.
