About
Discovering the true story of your starts on day 1. It starts with you and your experience. It continues as we learn about the witnesses, police response, prosecutors and society. Motives, pressures and other blinders lead to false beliefs or false accusations. As we learn the true story, we investigate to support it, and to disprove the prosecution story. Its basis is found in science and psychology. The true story of your case provides the best way to win at trial. It also allows gets to the best plea bargain, if that is your desire. This process works. It works to give you #honestresults. My job is learn the facts, know the law and present it all to you so you can make good decisions. If your decision is trial, my job is to win (attorney regulation says I cannot promise more than my sincerest effort towards that goal, so that is my promise). This is best done by telling the true story of the case. Gerry Spence taught me how to do that at the Trial Lawyers College. Now, I help him teach it to others as part of the Trial Lawyers College Faculty. Second to winning a trial is helping a lawyer to learn how to win.The law is important. After more than 20 years practicing, I know law. I always find new bits. Every year, the legislature changes the law and appellate courts interpret it with greater nuance. Sometimes it helps, more often the District Attorney council lobbies to make convictions easier. What never changes is the power of story. A well told true story of a case will win where reliance on law will not. As powerful as "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" sounds, jurors focused on harm and emotion will convict. The true story solves that. The true story challenges the prosecutor to disprove this story of innocence beyond a reasonable doubt. The true story is one the jury sees and feels. It does not rely upon the cold reason of logic, of law. I love the spirit of the west and Colorado in particular, standing for what you believe in, courage, self determination. The mountains call me, and I ski, mountain bike, dirt bike, hike etc. More recently, I started surfing. Now the ocean waves call every few months. As a youth, I learned how to eat, dance and speak with neighbors in Louisiana. I will always love my LSU Tigers football team. If you can understand Coach Orgeron, good on you. Geaux Tigahs. For law school, I traveled to Washington DC, attending Georgetown. The East Coast was a different experience, and not much like here. No matter where I go, there is nothing more beautiful than our mountains. Colorado is home. After school, I became a Colorado Public Defender and tried every type of case you can imagine. I won more than I lost. Despite my success, I felt there was more I could do in my cases. In 2010, I attended the 3 week Trial Lawyers College in DuBois, Wyoming. The work we did there changed my life. I remain passionate, but now I am happy as well. It changed my practice too. I am a better lawyer, and a better human.I have never been a prosecutor. I have believe in the individual, not corporations nor govenments. In my time, I have seen too many injustices committed by corporations or govenments to work for them or help them. I hope they will act for the benefit of all, but that is not their motive. Money and power are their motives.

When doing my research before hiring Jason, he sold me with his confidence and desire to win. His communication is very detailed and clear. He likes to communicate via e mail which was very nice due to the convenience of that. He also has a very confident and supportive partner, Ryan. The outcome of the case was positive, and I can now continue with my life as I should be able to, especially for the sake of my children.
We first retained Jason in 2014 for a legal case in Boulder County. He was prompt and knowledgeable and resolved the matter to our satisfaction. Then, several years later, we needed court documents from that case, as well as a letter from Jason. He immediately produced both, even though the case had long since been completed. I highly recommend him.
Jason is amazing! A family member got into a lot of trouble and was facing serious prison time. Jason uncovered facts and a timeline that completely blew the DA's version of events out of the water leading to a complete acquittal. He made every effort to keep this event from going to trial but when it had to, he artfully provided a defense that the jury couldn't ignore. He is personable. He is really good guy. Thank you Jason!
Even though the help I needed was relatively small Jason didn't make me feel that why. I'm sure he had way more important clients to help but was with me every step of the way. He is extremely knowledgeable and amazingly easy to talk to and I couldn't be happier with the outcome he got. While I hope I don't need him again, I would highly recommend him for anyone needing world-class representation.
I have to start by saying that I was accused by a girl of sexual assault in college in 2017. After my old lawyers lied to me and got me in jail for 32 days, I started carefully looking for the right lawyer as I was charged with a 3rd degree felony and looking at 8-24 years in prison. I have contacted more than 20 criminal lawyers throughout the country, some charging 10x more than Jason. I knew Jason was the right one as soon as I called him the first time. He agreed to look at my case but he told me he was currently assisting another person with a trial (this showed me professionalism)! After he got back to me he was very truthful, and direct. I loved how he was sincere. I hired him and we started on a journey to fight back! Jason is extremely well prepared in criminal defense and uses a lot of different approaches, like psychodrama and more. We went to 2 court dates together (pre trial and arraignment). During pre trial I understood that my choice was right. This guy was coming up with questions to the witnesses that were close to impossible for a normal mind to come up with. Of course my case was not dismissed at pre trial, but we knew this case would most likely go to trial... Jason worked hard and at the meeting with the DA really made her understand that she didn’t have a case against me and that se should accurately review the case. On July 31st, my happiest day so far, I received an email from Jason saying that the DA had dismissed the case after a “thorough review of the case”. If you need someone to fight for you, a smart man and someone that would care for you like a brother, then look no further. Jason is the best lawyer in Boulder and one of the top in Colorado. The only one that doesn’t come out of CU, and will fight for you instead of settling for a deal like many more around Boulder.
In the fee agreement it says, "zealously represent", and that is what he did! Mr. Savela is professional and sincere. Though representation is not in-expensive, Mr. Savela did not nickel and dime me to death, it was well worth the investment. I also appreciate his attitude of equanimity, which centered me so I could understand everything with more clarity. He took the time to educated me about the circumstances of my case, hear what I had to say, and inform me of my rights regrading the law AND his legal obligations to me. Mr. Savela has a sense of justice and feels personally satisfied when it is accomplished for his client. I truly trusted him to help me and that was what I was looking for. I cannot thank you enough Mr. Jason, you really eased my mind, and helped me retain my clean record, that which would not have happened with YOU!
Jason was exceptional in his preparation for my case. He stated my defense in a clear and concise way. He did not sugar-coat anything, and he was absolutely good to his word. We had an excellent result. I would highly recommend Jason to anyone in need of criminal representation.
Jason helped me keep my license after getting a speeding ticket while on DUI probation. He was helpful, knowledgeable and knew the system. I would recommend him to anyone!
After agreeing to my plea deal in NY I was supposed to have a conditional license for 1 year, then receive my full license. After gov. Cumo decided to "change dmv regulations" I was told no license, and I could resubmit my paperwork in 2019. I moved to Colorado, had not driven for over a year, and he was able to get me back on the road. After a couple of paper hold ups, and some more phone calls by Jason (absolute hero), I was able to start building a life.
Mr. Savela was referred to me by an out of state family member, who is also a DUI lawyer. I could not have been happier with my choice to retain Jason as my attorney who would represent me through my DUI case. Not only was he very professional and helpful even before retaining him (offered substantial pre-trial information and tips), he showed a sincere interest in my case and its 'quirky' nature. He was able to handle all court proceedings and meetings without the need for me to even be present. He was even able to get the DA to recognize that the charges filed against me and the arrest were unsubstantiated. This resulted in my case being dismissed. While other attorneys I spoke with in an attempt to get a "bargain" gave me (seemingly unfounded) promises and purported determinations/outcomes, Jason was reasonably optimistic about my case but realistic and rightfully cautious to come to any conclusions. One other attorney I had met with, despite the unusual nature of my case, said I would absolutely be convicted and advised that I start classes and service before even being arraigned. Jason, on the other hand, informed me that it most likely would have little to no effect on my outcome and would be a waste of time and resources. There are plenty of "cheaper" attorneys out there that you could choose. However, at least with Jason Savela, you will get what you pay for. If you want solid, strong, and realistic representation, then I recommend you check out jasonsavela-law.com and get in touch with Jason (his website has a wealth of information.) I know he got me the absolute best outcome that could have ever been imagined. Oh, and he's a pretty nice guy too! Thank you, Jason.
