I am a Kansas native who started practicing law at the Johnson County District Attorney's Office in 2006 as a legal intern. During my time in the District Attorney's Office I worked in the domestic violence unit, managed the expungement unit, managed the diversion unit, and ultimately became the section chief of the special victims unit and a divsion chief. Over my fifthteen years with the office I litiaged thousands of cases on behalf of the State of Kansas. I tried over forty jury trials as first chair for the State of Kansas. These cases include homicides, violent crimes, sex crimes, and crimes against children. This work involved extensive jury trial, bench trial, motion work, media appearances, and high level negotiations.In the summer of 2021 I joined Mike Jones and Brant McCoy to establish Jones, McCoy & Covington, P.A. I am focusing on helping crime victims recover in the civil arena; estate planning including wills, trusts, and guardianships; and civil litigation in personal injury cases.
