About

I am dedicated and aggressive family law attorney located in North County San Diego.  I handle cases in San Diego and Orange County.  If you are in need to a client-centered knowledgable family law attorney - call me we can discuss your situations.  ALL consulations are free...attorney's should never charge for a job interview! There are many lawyers to choose from and the decision to hire a professional is not easy; choose the person you are comfortable with that places your interests above their own.  And, while we all need money to survive, if the prospective attorney's focus is primarily about money - they are probably not the right lawyer. Ask QUESTIONS!  You are interviewing someone who you need to trust, who is accessible, who treats you with respect - don't settle for the BIG name or the fancy office only.  While reputations and resources are a very important factor, it is the client who is the most important - the relationship you will have with your attorney is key. Let your expectations be clear...what do you need from your lawyer?  Tell them.  If you are clear about what you expect the attorney can be clear if they feel they can meet those expectation.

If you need a Family Law Lawyer for a custody case. HIRE HIRE HIRE James Fox!!!!! From start to finish he was amazing! I can not even put into words just how amazing he truly was. He not only helped myself, but my children as well. Their little voices were not being heard and he worked fast and quickly to grant changes to benefit their well being, and my rights as their Mother. It was a fight I thought at times seemed to hard to face let alone win.. In a matter of a month things 100 percent changed and went completely in our favor. He not only works hard.. but he advises you on the "BEST" choice to make for any given situation. He is truly the right person for the job and our family could not thank him enough!!

Mr. Fox has been a tremendous advocate for my young daughter. Always looking out for what is in her best interest. I appreciate his consultation, guidance and take charge attitude. He has helped me through the court process with custody and continued to assist when we no longer were going through the courts. He is knowledgeable, fair and easy to talk to. I highly recommend Mr. Fox for your legal needs, I have referred several friends who are also happy with his services.

I went to Jim about 14 years ago to do my healthcare directive, will and trust. He also did these for my dad. Several months after that my father was in a car accident. I called Jim and he was immediately available to get my dad's health care directive to the hospital so my dad's wishes were carried out. Jim handled dealing with the insurance company for me after his passing. I have kept in touch over the years and was always able to reach him if I had a question. I recently went back to Jim to update my documents and again, he did a stellar job. Jim listens and seems to ask all the right questions to make sure what I want to have happen will happen. Thanks Mr. Fox!

Won't go into details of the case but I will say he's done things for me that no attorney in a million years would do. He's a bulldog with a heart of gold. Thank you Mr. Fox.

I didn't think much of FOX at the beginning. There were issues that neither FOX nor me had control. This did have some impact on my case. The other side kept on lying about some of the business issues we shared and things kept on getting scheduled later and later. Then during one of the hearings, I attended and watched do his lawyering thing. I have been a believer ever sense. Wasn't long until he had argued a settlement. I must say as things go, I am totally happy with the outcome. Unfortunately the ex won't leave me alone and I will need another family lawyer. It will be JAMES FOX. I totally trust him and his abilities. Good luck. I don't wish family legal matters on anyone.

My case is what most lawyers and judges in the family division, consider the "most difficult". I was asking the courts to grant my request to relocate my 6 year old daughter to Pennsylvania from California, where her father was staying; in other words: a move-away. I was self representing myself in the beginning of my case, and then chose to pay an attorney who was cheap but knew the law more than me; both of those choices failed me. After three years of being in and out of court, I decided to go "all in". I searched, and reviewed many lawyers, and kept coming back to Mr. Fox. I decided to retain his services, and it was the best choice I ever made. From my first phone call, to weeks after my final hearing, I am still in contact with him and still satisfied with the outcome. My first meeting with Mr. Fox was at his office, where both him and his paralegal did everything to make me feel comfortable. They both kept me informed each step of the way and reached out to me anytime they needed anything from me. I was able to relax in the weeks leading up to my case knowing that I had a great attorney working on my case. Mr. Fox even made himself available at all times, for any questions I had or even just moments of doubt. I was pleased with, not only Mr. Fox's service, but also with the outcome of my case. My daughter was granted permission to move, and is now afforded time with family and a better future; and I have Mr. Fox to thank for that. If you want a lawyer, who never "drops the ball" on your case, and actually cares about you and your case as if it were his own life, then Mr. Fox is the attorney you want on your side. He is hard working and compassionate about what he does. A wise man once said "cheap lawyers aren't good, and good lawyers aren't cheap". His prices are considerably low when you compare them to the work he puts in and the lifelong happiness you and your family can gain from his services.

When I first walked into Jim's office, I had been married for only a month, I was anticipating the arrival of my first child, and I had just been falsely accused of domestic violence. Even though I had just been "played", I was in denial at first. And deeply wounded. Because I was active duty military, I also had the unique challenge of having to answer to two justice systems. My wife at the the time had an endless amount of resources available to her, and had a whole community of people believing her story. YWCA gave her a free attorney, there were "victim" advocates on base calling my boss at work, she was even admitted into a domestic violence shelter to support the narrative of me being an abuser. Jim was one of the only people that believed me. Over the next year and a half, I was repeatedly targeted by false allegations. With limited space available, I'm going to try and list most of the things Jim was able to do for me. - Jim was able to ensure my son was born in this state - I was able to have my son's last name be changed to mine. - Jim defeated two restraining orders filed against me. He greatly impeached the credibility of both my accuser, and in one of the cases the lawyer that was representing my accuser. He truly brought justice to both cases, and I was finally vindicated, and able to carry a judgement that proved my innocence. - At a custody exchange, I was the victim of domestic violence while waiting at the curb to pick up my son. I called 911 for help, and the police officer was incompetent and unable to see that I was the victim, despite the physical evidence. I was arrested and taken to jail. Jim was able to convince the prosecutor not to charge me, and he was able to obtain a restraining order protecting me from further incident and ensuring that I could pick up my son safely. -Jim helped me navigate through two fraudulent child abuse accusations, both of which were declared "unfounded" by CPS workers. -I now have FULL PHYSICAL AND LEGAL CUSTODY of my son. He will be 2 years old in a couple of months. The most memorable moment I have of this case is when I was sitting on the witness stand, being cross examined by my accuser's shark of an attorney. Having already factually lost the battle, she was glaring at me, asking unrelated questions, slinging mud, hoping to paint me as a bad guy. I looked to the right, and there was Jim. He gave me a nod of the head, and I was inspired with confidence. I was able to look this person in the eye, with my career, future, and fatherhood on the line, and concisely answer her questions. Throughout the questioning, half of her absurd questions were tossed out by the judge, because of Jim's objections and knowledge of the law. We all learn about the justice system going through school. We are taught that it is a system of due process, and that it generally seeks and finds the truth. Anecdotally, however, I know I may have arrived at a much different fate if the attorney at my side was not Jim Fox.

Jim worked with me in my divorce over the summer - I had a wife that felt pastures were greener on the other side of the fence - but more alarming was the fact that I had a teenage son that I did not want to lose custody of. Jim worked with me, help me understand the procedures I was about to go through and took away a huge amount of angst form the totally stressful legal process. He was there and available form cradle to grave! I felt I had a friend in my corner and today, me AND my son live together, I have custody, no alimony and the divorce is all but a blip on my life radar!

My ex husband was in the military. He was difficult to deal with and was not willing to give me a divorce. I hired Jim because he is former military and knows how and who to talk to. Not only did I get my divorce but he was very supportive and always there when I needed him. He was more than my attorney, he was a friend during the tough times. It was not quick, and although I paid him, he also got me attorney's fees by the end of the case. I had never hired a lawyer before so I did not know what to expect. At first, like most people, I was hit with sticker shock at the attorney fees, but I remember him telling me cheap lawyers aren't good and good lawyers aren't cheap. He was not the most expensive I had talked with, but he was reasonable - and I got what I paid for. Thank you Mr. Fox!
