I am writing to enthusiastically endorse James (Jim) Prichard for his efforts in earning the Meridian Village Homeowners Association a $3M settlement against the developer and previous owner of the community. 11 years ago, I purchased a townhome in Beaverton, OR and served as a board member for the HOA. Our community experienced a classic case of construction defect in which an unrepeatable developer produced a shoddy village of townhomes. These types of developments were very common in the housing boom of the early 2000s; if you live in a condo or townhome built in this era, it’s likely you have or had some type of construction defect. After we suspected the defects, we hired an inspection crew, which confirmed our fears. The next step was to retain legal representation. I am extremely thankful that we called Ball Janik. From that point forward, no money came out of the HOA’s bank account to proceed. Ball Janik fronted all expert and litigation fees and worked on a contingency basis. The best part, after Ball Janik received their commission, the HOA was left with just more than enough to complete all of the repairs to the townhomes; the 12 year old community looks new again! Jim and his entire staff were a pleasure to deal with, extremely professional, and always prompt to follow up with news or developments. A member of Jim’s team always attended key board meetings, which helped to keep HOA members informed and reassured that progress was being made. As a HOA board member, you have a lot of pressure to make your neighbors happy, Ball Janik made all of us look like heroes. I would highly recommend giving Jim and his team a call.
