About
Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile and learn more about me. Over the course of my career, I have counseled and represented clients in employment law matters, from basic consultative advice , handbooks, and policies, to federal court litigation. My main practice areas include, but are not limited to: I have litigated cases in various forums within the State of Wisconsin and am admitted to practice before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, the Seventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse and earned my Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School. While in law school, I interned with the National Labor Relations Board, represented low income individuals through Marquette’s Unemployment Compensation Clinic, participated in the Labor and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association’s Trial Advocacy Competition and was a Pro Bono Society honor recipient. Over the course of my entire legal career (even while clerking in law school), my only area of focus has been employment law. I do not and have not dabbled in other areas of the law. Thus, I'm not just someone who knows "a bit" of employment law, it's all I know and that is to my client's benefit.

Attorney Walcheske kindly listened to me and gave me solid, straightforward advice. Although I had a lengthy consultation, but did not hire him, he generously gave of his time to help me. I definitely would have hired him if I could. I highly recommend him as an attorney.
James A. Walcheske represented me in a case where I was fired basically from a positiion for being arrested in a misdemeanure situation a year before. The company 'let me go' because they said that I did not meet their standards due to the arrest. This violated state law. I let this go initially...life isn't always fair, but the company later sent me a check and this caused me to think...why? Furthermore, it rekindled something I was going to let pass. I went to James because he was willing work with me on a contingency bases. He said the company violated state law... After a period that lasted ten months, we settled for $20,000, thanks to the negotiating skill James displayed in my behalf throughout the time period. I found James to be fair and knowledgeable and his people skills were excellent. He always seemed to care about how the I felt...he advised me to ride things out a bit longer as he felt the company should of paid out more, but he respected my wishes to move on. I liked James as a human being, and I found him to be a pleasant, timely attorney. I would recommend him to anyone.
James is polite, friendly, and always returns my phone calls or emails in a timely manner. He listens/responds to what I have to say (questions and concerns) involving my case, AND DIRECTS OR RE-DIRECTS ME instead of telling me what I SHOULD do or say. Most lawyers act like they are doing you a "favor" by representing you - even though you are the one paying for their time but I believe that James actually cares about me and my case. HE HAS DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB and I am glad I chose to work with him and his firm...I was a military veteran and a simple college student with little to no funds when I came to see him about the matter, so he took a little risk, and felt as passionate about my case as I did! I have worked with a lot of lawyers on many different levels (military and civilian) and it was nice to have him in my corner in this discrimination case. He has also been instrumental in a decision I have made to study law...I will become a paralegal first and see where it takes me
I have a contracted Carroll and McDonald to represent me in the past, always with excellent results. James returns calls in a timely manner and knows Wisconsin law He is very professional, courteous, and easy to talk to.,

Attorney Walcheske kindly listened to me and gave me solid, straightforward advice. Although I had a lengthy consultation, but did not hire him, he generously gave of his time to help me. I definitely would have hired him if I could. I highly recommend him as an attorney.
