Commercial litigation attorney with over 32 years experience representing clients in mechanics lien foreclosure actions, construction disputes, collection actions and corporate matters. James T. Rohlfing is currently serving as President of the Illinois Mechanical & Specialty Contractor's Association (IMSCA), the largest organization of subcontractors in Illinois. He has drafted legislation on construction issues introduced in the Illinois legislature and written numerous articles relating to construction law and litigation. Mr. Rohlfing is the editor and a chapter author of the West Publication Illinois Construction Law Manual. He is an active member of the Chicago area Association of Subcontractors and Affiliates, and the Chicago Bar Association. Mr. Rohlfing has received an "AV" rating from Martindale Hubbell American Law Directory, the highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards.Mr. Rohlfing has testified before the Illinois legislature in support of legislation on behalf of the construction industry. He has lectured numerous times before construction industry groups and to groups of practicing attorneys on commercial litigation and construction law issues. Mr. Rohlfing has authored numerous articles including: "What a Sub Wants - What a Sub Needs" Illinois Mechanical & Specialty Contractors Association, (Fall 2006, Vol. I - Issue I); and "Building and Construction Contract Act - Home Fights are Fairer Fights" Chicago Bar Record (January, 2003).Since being admitted to the Illinois bar and United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1982, Mr. Rohlfing has handled more than 100 trials. In addition to his trial experience, he has handled dozens of appeals, including: Arpac Corporation v. Murray, 226 Ill.App.3d 65, 589 N.E.2d 640 (1st Dist 1992); Laurel Motors, Inc. v. Airways Transp. Group of Companies, Inc., 284 Ill.App.3d 312, 672 N.E.2d 785 (2nd Dist.,1996); Onsite Engineering & Management v. Illinois Tool Work, Inc., 319 Ill.App.3d 362, 744 N.E.2d 928 (1st Dist. 2001); and Shaw Industries, Inc. v. Community College Dist. No. 515, 318 Ill.App.3d 661, 741 N.E.2d 642 (1st Dist. 2001).Prior to founding James T. Rohlfing & Associates, P.C., Mr. Rohlfing was a partner and directed the litigation departments at two medium sized Chicago business law firms: Saitlin, Patzik, Frank & Samotny; and Levenfeld, Eisenberg, Janger, Glassberg, Samotny & Halper. Mr. Rohlfing graduated from DePaul University in 1982, where he authored "The Iranian Cases-Executive Intervention in Private Litigation," 30 DePaul Law Review 623-50 (1982). He received his B.S. in business administration in 1979 from Marquette University.
