Tom is an associate with the firm primarily engaged in civil defense litigation in both state and federal court. Tom maintains an active practice at both trial and appellate court levels, in a variety of practice areas, including personal injury, professional and municipal liability, and more.Prior to joining the firm, Tom received his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in Political Science from Pepperdine University before receiving his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law. Tom also spent summers working at the Connecticut State’s Attorney’s Office in Bridgeport, CT and in federal court in Bridgeport, CT for US Magistrate Judge William I. Garfinkel.While at Ryan Ryan Deluca, Tom was the associate responsible for all Connecticut litigation arising out of the May 2013 Metro-North train derailment in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The mass tort resulted in over 100 claims and lawsuits from nearly 60 plaintiffs in Connecticut that were all resolved by the end of 2016, including multiple trials. Tom also assisted in the successful defense through trial of what is believed to be the first spray polyurethane foam (SPF) product liability case tried in the country. Other practice areas include premises liability, Dram Shop, civil assault, automobile and trucking accidents, legal malpractice, vexatious litigation, municipal defense, product liability, diminution of value claims, and more. Tom has successfully defended numerous cases to their conclusion, regularly resolving cases through motion practice, settlement negotiation, trial, and appellate briefing and argument. Tom is also active in the firm’s volunteer events through the RRD Volunteers Corps., routinely working with local non-profits such as Person-to-Person, Inspirica, DOMUS, STAR, Kids in Crisis, and LifeBridge to support their constituents.
