James is a 4th generation Montanan passionate about representing people who are injured, wronged, and silenced by those in power. Whether the government violated your rights, your employer discriminated against you or witheld your wages, or a company's unsafe product injured you, James will fight for the results you want and deserve. No amount of money can make up for your suffering. A lawsuit provides much more: it gives you a voice in a public forum, it allows you to stand up and say we will not tolerate the greed, the cruelty, or the lack of regard for others' lives and families.After graduating from the University of Montana's School of law, James clerked for United States District Court Judge Sam E. Haddon, where he worked on a wide variety of civil lawsuits, three of which were tried before a jury. Next, James worked as a public defender in Helena, Montana, where he tried cases to judges and juries in state and city courts.In March of 2018, James joined the law firm of Meyer, Shaffer & Stepans, PLLP:The attorneys at Meyer, Shaffer & Stepans are accomplished trial lawyers who represent clients with serious cases and disputes throughout Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and Colorado.We carefully select our cases and take pride in preparing each case for trial so that we can effectively present your story to a jury.
