As a former South Carolina Department of Revenue attorney, James McCutchen knows how government taxation and regulation can affect you personally and professionally. James is motivated to help you with your tax, estate planning, probate, and business matters to resolve these issues cost efficiently and in a timely manner. James graduated from West Ashley High School in Charleston, South Carolina in 2002 where he was a member of the football team and captain of the marching band. During this time, he met his wife, Allison, who was a member of the flag line. James played the saxophone and was named multiple times to the South Carolina All-State and All-Region bands.In 2006, James graduated from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Criminal Justice. While studying at the College, James served as the Captain of the Advanced Mock Trial Team, where he traveled all over the United States competing in various tournaments. James was named both an All-Regional and All-National Best Attorney by the American Mock Trial Association. Also, James served as the Brotherhood Chair of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity.In 2011, James was a cum laude graduate of the Charleston School of Law in Charleston, South Carolina. While in law school, he served as a member of The Charleston Law Review and Associate Justice of the Moot Court Board. He also served as a member of the Honor Council and assisted with Faculty Recruitment.In 2014, James graduated from Georgetown University Law School in Washington, D.C. with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation and a Graduate Certificate in State and Local Taxation. While attending Georgetown Law, James was the recipient of the State and Local Tax Scholarship.James and Allison are proud to call Lexington county home to their family. Allison serves as Registered Respiratory Therapist at Lexington Medical Center. They have two sons, Landon and Cason.Since 2013, James has served as an attorney coach for the River Bluff High School mock trial team, which has advanced three times to the SC Bar High School State Mock Trial Competition. On numerous occasions, students from this program have won various awards and scholarships.
