About

 Concentrating in creditors' rights and business insolvency, Jim represents banks, hedge funds, leasing and finance companies, commercial landlords, trade and other creditors in enforcing their rights in all manner of workout, debt restructuring and insolvency proceedings. Jim has also served as counsel to Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy trustees and he has served as counsel to creditors’ committees in Chapter 11 cases. Jim has also represented sellers and purchasers of assets in bankruptcy proceedings. Jim has served as a state court receiver and has represented secured creditors in receivership proceedings. Jim has appeared before various state and federal courts throughout New England. He has appeared in bankruptcy courts throughout the United States.   Jim served as law clerk to Thomas W. Lawless, Bankruptcy Judge for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association as well as the American Bankruptcy Institute. He has written numerous articles and lectured extensively on bankruptcy and creditors' rights issues.   Jim has been named a Massachusetts "Super Lawyer" for eleven successive years between 2004 and 2015.   Jim resides in Reading, Massachusetts and serves as a director and former President of the Reading Scholarship Foundation and as a director of Reading Cooperative Bank.
