Jim is an amazing attorney. We had a situation with our son being accused of false things and in the hot seat. We were very scared and Jim helped to calm our fears. He gave us great advice and was very helpful. He was able to get all the charges dropped and keep my sons reputation untarnished. We hope we never need a lawyer again but if we ever do we will definitely call Jim first! Thank you so much.
It was late in the game when I contacted Mr. Kolosowsky. I didn't have high hopes of finding an attorney 5 days before my court date, and not only was Mr. Kolosowsky available, but he able to provide advice that proved very valuable in the hearing. I was facing a contempt of court charge, and had very little knowledge of what I was getting myself into. Even on such short notice this attorney not only took my case but through his advice and representation I was given far less a penalty than I was expecting. I had never hired an attorney before, and was definitely pleasantly surprised. If I ever have another case in the Southwest Michigan area, I will be giving Mr. Kolosowsky a call.
I had Mr. Kolosowsky as a pro-bono/court appointed (unpaid) attorney for a criminal case. I was facing some pretty serious charges that could have landed me in prison for up to 10 years if found guilty. The case was all over the media and to tell you the truth I was pretty scared about what might happen to me. Mr. Kolosowsky was very professional in the matter since our first meeting and throughout the rest of the case. I have dealt with other attorneys appointed to me by the court before and they didn't even come close to doing the job that Mr. Kolosowsky did for me. Most attorneys appointed by the court won't explain anything to you, won't answer your calls and you only see them briefly (about 5 minutes) before you go into court. Not Mr. Kolosowsky, he answered ALL of my calls (or returned them promptly the same day), even called me several times to let me know what was going on with my case, and spoke to me in length each time about my case. I started out with 3 felony charges: Malicious destruction of utility property, Larceny over $1000, and a sup-4 habitual. Due to his hard work and courtroom knowledge he was able to get me a great deal from the prosecutor. They dropped 2 of the felonies and i plead guilty to attempted larceny (a lesser charge than the larceny) and even got the judge to agree to a Cobbs agreement to not exceed more than half of my guidelines. My PSI (pre-sentance investigation report) came back recommending I serve 180 days in jail and due to his hard work and a very understanding and compassionate judge (Kathleen M. Brickley) I walked out of the courtroom on day of sentencing only having to pay restitution and do 19 weekends of work crew for the VanBuren county sheriffs department. Not only that but if I'm able to pay off restitution before my work crew is done i don't have to finish that. I also received NO probation. All in all Mr. Kolosowsky is a very knowledgeable, down to earth, caring attorney that fought for me and will fight for you. Thank you Mr. Kolowsowsky Sincerely, my family and I
Jim was my attorney for criminal defense case in a concealing and receiving stolen property jury trial. I would recommend him 100%. He communicated effectively, kept me informed and explained things clearly the entire case. He was completely dedicated to making sure I win the case. When he gets into the court room he is aggressive and fierce and does an excellent job in questioning witnesses. I will recommend him to anyone who is in need of a lawyer from now on, excellent lawyer.
Jim Kolosowsky helped us with a very difficult and nerve-wracking legal situation involving a criminal matter. He went the extra mile for us and we truly appreciated his assistance. He was prompt on keeping us informed every step of the way. He contacted the police, prosecutor and court and went to bat for us gathering the information we needed to give us peace of mind. At the free consultation he was very thorough in explaining our legal rights and the procedures and steps taken in a criminal case. From our consultation, we felt that Mr. Kolosowsky is very knowledgeable about criminal law in Michigan, knows the court system well, is confident, discrete and compassionate. If we ever require an attorney for a criminal or domestic matter again, I would not hesitate to hire him on the spot.
After dealing with my divorce attorney several years ago, I wasn't too happy when I had to hire another attorney. My past experience was not a good one and I was scared to get another attorney that would do nothing but take my money. I would recommend Jim Kolosowsky and if in need of an attorney in the future, he will be the one that I will call. He's not going to tell you what he thinks you want to hear and in court he is fierce in action. I couldn't be happier with the outcome and the attorney I hired.
