About
Krystal M. Ahart is a partner at Kahn & Ahart, PLLC, dba Bankruptcy Legal Center™. She focuses her practice on assisting individuals and businesses through the bankruptcy process in Chapters 7, 11, and 13. She first began working with her law Partner in 2002, when she was hired as a receptionist for the law firm of James F. Kahn, P.C., moving her way up from file clerk/receptionist, to secretary, to paralegal, and finally to lawyer, all while caring for a sibling, working during the day, and taking her undergrad and law classes at night. Krystal is an active member of the legal community and devotes a substantial amount of time to serving the underserved. She works closely with the Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP) on the Friend of the Court Reaffirmation program at the bankruptcy court, where she teaches law students various skills including effective client communication, interviewing, courtroom decorum, and presentation; the law students then represent debtors who do not have their own attorney at their reaffirmation hearing (as a “Friend of the Court”). Krystal is a past-president of the Young Lawyers Division Board of the Maricopa County Bar Association and currently serves as Chair of VLP’s Advisory Committee and as Co-Executive Director of Arizona Consumer Bankruptcy Counsel (“ACBC”). In 2014, she was the first recipient of the Honorable Sarah Sharer Curley Self-Help Center Volunteer Award, in recognition of her commitment to the success of the Bankruptcy Court’s Self-Help Center. Krystal recently became the fourth female to be Certified as a Bankruptcy Specialist by the State Bar of Arizona. She was selected to be a member of the 2020 Class of American Bankruptcy Institute's 40 Under 40 Program and to Super Lawyers’ 2021 Southwest Rising Stars® list, an honor reserved for only 2.5% of attorneys in the Southwest! In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, camping, and hiking - with her awesomely well-behaved dog (Tyson) by her side.

We hired Krystal to help with a very large private student loan. After I, the student, became disabled, I applied for a disability discharge and was approved. However, because my grandfather had cosigned the loan, the problem did not go away. We hired Krystal to help navigate the options, and ultimately settle with Navient. Krystal did an amazing job, even though this is not her area of expertise. She was always available to answer questions and has a caring, patient demeanor. She was thorough in advising us of all options and potential outcomes and helping calm anxiety and stress that inevitably comes with this process. She took over all communication with Navient, which was a huge relief to my grandfather. Ultimately, she helped reach a settlement of 25k on a 142k private student loan balance. We could not have asked for a better lawyer or a better experience and highly recommend Krystal!
I contacted Krystal and consulted with her on several client matters. Krystal quickly informed me of their rights via bankruptcy and options related therein. Krystal is a knowledgeable and I would strongly urge you to contact her should you be in the unfortunate position of having to file a bankruptcy matter.
Krystal worked all nighters to complete one of the toughest bankruptcy cases in which my ex kept challenging every turn and the trustee lawyer even went after my extended family. I would highly recommend Krystal with all my heart. A bankruptcy should not be as difficult as mine. She had to really watch the numbers and the math! Unbelievable what I went through and hoping after a 2 year long bankruptcy case, my case will close and I can move on. Thank you Krystal
Upon recommendation, Krystal was retained for our business and personal bankruptcies. Every requirement and stage in the process was explained to us clearly and completely. Krystal and her team made certain we had completed all statutory mandates. Their kindness and competence were instrumental in getting us through a time consuming and stressful process.
Krystal and Jim were both very helpful and professional! I would recommend them to anyone needing their services.
My wife and I owe an unlimited debt of gratitude to Attorney Krystal Ahart. From the onset she allayed our fears and anxieties by her caring professionalism and precise knowledge of what it would take to put our lives back together through a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Krystal was always on top of what the court required and kept us meticulously accountable to what was required of us. She lent invaluable assistance at the time of despair and transparently brought to light any detail that was not understood. We were most appreciative of the fact that Krystal seemed well respected by the Judge and the representative from the US Trustee. For that reason we felt secure and confident, knowing that we were affiliated with a highly reputable law firm. Krystal Ahart, James Kahn and the firm's support staff have created an atmosphere that puts one at ease the minute one walks through the door. And throughout the lengthy legal process that hospitable and welcoming atmosphere was always evident. We unhesitatingly attribute that to a well-established client-centered culture. Now that our case has been successfully closed, we pass on this impeccable professional relationship that was based solely on mutual respect, integrity, trust and caring – and of course, WINNING!
Krystal Ahart is a remarkable lawyer. I hired Krystal almost 2 years ago now to help settle a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. She and her amazing staff keep me engaged in the process, promptly responded to all on my email inquires and made sure that I never lost sight of the end result. Bankruptcy is a emotion time. Krystal showed extreme compassion. Thank you Krystal!
I co-signed a private student loan for my granddaughter Amy, approximately 15 years ago. Approximately five years ago Amy became disabled, and was approved for discharge. Subsequently Navient came to me for repayment of $142,000 student loan. We engaged Krystal to negotiate a settlement with Navient as I was not in a position to make payments. Krystal handled all negotiations with Navient and reached an agreement to settle for $25,000. Krystal was always available to explain the process and all options. I highly recommend Krystal Ahart.
Krystal was so patient and helpful with all of my questions. She made the whole process so easy and understandable. Mine was not the quickest case, but she showed patience and kindness throughout the whole process. She gets an A+ from me.
Krystal was very thorough and detail oriented. She explained each step of the process and provided realistic timeframes and possible actions based on experience. She is very welcoming and completely on your side!
