About
Ohio lawyer James A. Dearie has been a practicing attorney since 1993. He has represented clients in civil, criminal, and traffic cases at all levels of the Ohio court system, including the Ohio Supreme Court. He is an active member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Warren County Bar Association, and the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Jim was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1990, he graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame, with a BA in Economics. In 1993, he graduated with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law. After graduating law school, Jim served a one-year clerkship with a U.S. District Court Judge in Montgomery, Alabama. He then served four years in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Upon leaving the Army in 1999, Jim went into private practice, representing business and individual clients throughout southwestern Ohio. He currently serves on the executive committee of the Warren County Criminal Justice Board, and as as an elected member of Lebanon, OH City Council and the Mary, Seat of Wisdom, High School Studies Group, Inc. Hie has also served recently on the board of directors for Elizabeth's New Life Center.

A few years ago, my chronically ill daughter was reported as truant by her school, and a case was brought against her, my husband, and myself. Even though I am an attorney, I knew I needed a lawyer with the right experience and skill to help us out of a very stressful and delicate situation. Jim was exactly the attorney we needed. Jim Dearie really fought for me when it looked like I had zero chance of beating a shoplifting charge that could have completely ruined my life. I had priors but the charge was unwarranted and I did not intentionally do anything wrong. Unfortunately it is really hard to convince people of the truth when they are so focused on past faults. Jim believed in me and fought for months for a good outcome. We eventually reached an agreement where I could have the charge expunged after one year. No jail time no probation.
