During those fifteen years, Jim handled appeals and tried cases ranging from medical malpractice and serious personal injury claims, to employment discrimination cases (both administrative and in federal court), civil rights cases, and commercial disputes. In 2001, Jim joined the U.S. Department of Justice where he helped establish the Faith-Based & Community Initiative. He joined the faculty of Regent University in 2003, and has taught trial practice, appellate advocacy, and constitutional law. Jim has also served Regent as an Assistant Dean and as director of two programs in the Law School. In addition to graduating from Duke Law, Jim is a graduate of Calvin College (Grand Rapids, MI) and Regent, which awarded him a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration.
