Jacques C. Mestayer is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana and attended Lafayette High School. After high school, Jacques attended Louisiana State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 2011. Due to his work within the Management program, Jacques was inducted into the Society of Rucks Fellows. While studying at LSU, Jacques was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and a volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club of Baton Rouge and Acadiana.After his undergraduate studies, Jacques obtained a degree from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he graduated cum laude. During law school, Jacques served as a Senior Associate of the Louisiana Law Review and as a member of the Public Interest Law Society. In 2016, Jacques’s law review article “Saving Sportsman’s Paradise: Article 450 & Declaring Ownership of Submerged Lands in Louisiana” was published in Volume 76 of the Louisiana Law Review after receiving the Henri Capitant Distinction for Best Article on a Civil Law Topic.Jacques, who is admitted to practice in all Louisiana State Courts as well as all U.S. District Courts in Louisiana, joined the firm in 2016. Jacques practices primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, general business litigation, railroad defense, casualty litigation, and contractual matters.
