I came to van cleaf & McCormack with a somewhat complicated family law issue. I was treated like family from the moment I walked in. They answered all my questions without getting annoyed at the number of them. I was communicated with consistently. They even offered a payment plan I could budget for. My issues were all resolved in a positive way for me. Highly recommend!
I used this law firm after being attacked by a loose dog in my neighborhood. Jacob was incredibly down-to-earth and very easy to work with! He, along with his fabulous office manager, Amelia, are super knowledgeable and kept me updated throughout the entire process. Jacob was extremely adamant and made sure I was compensated properly. I was extremely satisfied with their services! Highly recommend!
I retained this group to assist me in some family law matters, and I could not be more pleased with my choice. Their office is conveniently located in the East Village portion of downtown Des Moines with ample parking and few traffic concerns. The office itself is comfortable and kid friendly. I found the receptionist/legal secretary to be extremely knowledgeable and not condescending at all. I've had the privilege of dealing with both lawyers, and find that they complement each other wonderfully, with an awesome mix of raw facts and soothing humor. Together, this trio has kept me well informed and feeling at ease... all at a very reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this firm for any of your legal needs.
Mr. Van Cleaf did an amazing job in my case. He was attentive to my needs and what I wanted. He and his staff responded to me in a timely manner and always gave me honest answers to all my questions. Even if that honest answer was not exactly what I wanted to hear. I now have primary custody of my children. I do not think I could have gotten through this custody battle without him. I have referred multiple people to him and his partner and they have always reported positive things to me. I would trust Mr. Van Cleaf with any legal problems I have.
I hired Jacob for a custody situation and while he is a nice guy, he wasn't a very affective or assertive attorney. He was easily shut down, pushed around and just really unorganized and seemed lost in trial. He talks a very big game and is great at talking himself up but when it cones down to it, did not deliver at all. His office assistant Amelia is super awesome and very efficient and extremely knowledgeable. Office environment is very laid back and informal which was nice but would not present at terribly professional for some people.
Colin McCormack talks a great game and doesn't deliver. I felt little to know effort was given on Colin's part in the court room for my child custody case. There wasn't a dog in the fight on his part. I felt like I did all of the fighting in the court room and he was there just to file the paperwork. It was to the point I could have paid an online attorney to prepare paperwork, filed the paperwork myself, and defended myself in the court room. Colin and his staff are not impeccable with their word and they will not value your time, your money, and your livelihood. Filled with empty promises and broken dreams is what I'd expect. Imagine they drop the ball at such a critical time when you counted on him and his team. Moreover, deadlines are often missed, information is overlooked, and communication is slow. Paying a retainer and ensuring timely payments, doesn't ensure quality service, or anything of the sort. I'd rate this less than a one star if I could.
