Very condescending and evasive when you ask questions. Always tried to scare us into thinking the trustee would dismiss our case. He threatened multiple times to stop representing us after being paid and always made comments as to why we our bankruptcy would fail rather than guide us toward success. Well, we are are at the point of discharge and to get questions resolved, we have had to call the trustee to get answers rather than the attorney we paid for representation. He treated us with no respect and acted as if we were ignorant. We have felt we have had to go at this process all alone. We made the decision to only deal with the trustee and found it to be much more productive, less time consuming, and far less frustrating. If documents were needed we sent to the trustee and received immediate results and clear direction. Mr Berman was only interested in setting up more office visits to further berate us and espouse his political beliefs. In a situation that can be very demanding and stressful, you need someone who will help you navigate the process, ease the burden, and help make sure success is attained. Mr. Berman provided none of this and we want others to be able to an informed decision. There is light at the end of the tunnel and you deserve an advocate that helps you focus on that rather than unnecessary drama. We brought to his attention we were overpaying into the plan and an increase in the weekly plan deduction would only increase this, he did nothing to present our argument. At the end of our plan we paid $xx,xxx in excess payments. Yes, that is not a typo, but a high 5 figure number we must wait to be refunded. Now, when you made sacrifices for 5 years to pay back your creditors, having to pay that much more over and above what you legally had to can be challenging and frustrating on both a financial and emotional level. Go into it with a clear head, don't be afraid to challenge things you don't understand so you have a clear understanding of what is required and what is not. a law degree an a license does not always mean he is correct or serving your best interests. This is a very important decision in your life and you need all the necessary information to make an informed decision. Good luck to all who may read this and may be faced with a bankruptcy decision.
