I would highly recommend John tompkins as my attorney. After i was charges for HTV in hamilton, he was able to get my license back. The second time i was charge for hit&run. John and I had been to many trials. He fought for my case and finally, my case was dismissed. For years of going back and forth in court, it was worth keeping and having John as my attorney.

Absolutely the worst lawyer I have ever encountered. Did not put up any fight for me in court, was not prepared at all, told me one thing outside of court and another to the judge in court. He had so many open cases he could not keep anything straight. This man does not care about you or your future. There is only one thing this man cares about, that is you depositing money into his bank account. I got the maximum allowed sentence because he failed to represent me adequately. I paid this man $10,000.00 and after he got the money he was done with the case. I lost 10 actual years of my life. Trust me when I tell you, this is NOT the guy you want fighting for you in your corner.

Me and my 60 year old mother hired this attorney for my brother to file an appeal on a federal case. Which he did not inform us that he does not even practice federal law. So after we paid him $11,000 he never once spoke to or saw my brother. He only communicated via text. He then typed up some vague appeal that clearly was not arguing points that his client wanted to argue. His client brought this to his attention and Tompkins got offended and quit the case! He never filed the appeal. He stopped answering our calls. He took the money without doing the job. We are now pursuing legal actions against him. Very bad experience.

If I could give less than one star i would. My mother recommended him and maybe he considered it a favor but i would have rather paid someone 4x as much for more attention. After hiring Tompkins , meeting him once, and giving him the first portion of his fee, I never saw him again. My court case was pushed back 4 times a over a period of 10 months due to his inability to show up. Finally, he had a different attorney (not associated with his office) show up for my initial hearing. Proceeding from here I had 3 different lawyers (none of which were part of his firm) show up to court proceedings. 5 years later, I am currently attempting to enlist in the military and came to discover Tompkins Law didnt even have my police report on file. After hours of calls and tracking it down, i found the document and saw several inaccuracies in the officers report. I'm not sure if this would have affected my case but either way it contained inaccurate information. There was little to no consideration given to me or my case.

This lawyer along with many I am sure will tell you what you want to hear take your money then sit on your case, I am not sure this is true with all his case but it certainly was with mine. I feel he is knowledgeable but appears to pick and chooses what cases he wants to actually work on (I think his load is to heavy). I could have done a better job representing our son, he met with him once or twice and didn't even have his facts straight. There was no defense strategy and my son ended up with a maximum sentence. Do your homework folks don't be fooled by what they say to reel you in as a client or on the other hand maybe you will be one of the lucky one's and he will work on your case. Good Luck!
