About
Ian has spent his career exclusively handling employment law cases. All the lawyers at Cornish & Dell'Olio, P.C. work solely on employment law, with a focus on protecting the rights of employees throughout Colorado. Ian devotes a substantial portion of his practice to the representation of public employees. He represents employees of the Federal government and the State of Colorado, as well as employees of local/municipal governments, law enforcement agencies, school districts, and other special districts in cases involving employment discrimination and harassment based on race, gender, religion, age, and disability. Ian also represents employees in cases involving wrongful termination, wage and hour issues, free speech, and other claims for violations of Constitutional rights. He has litigated cases for public employees in State and Federal trial and appellate courts, and in the U.S. EEOC, the Merit Systems Protection Board, and the Colorado State Personnel Board. While much of his practice focuses on the representation of public employees, Mr. Kalmanowitz’s work and experience in that area carries over into his representation of private sector employees, where he is a committed advocate for a fair and just workplace.

I hired Ian to represent me after my former employer threatened legal action towards me. Ian met with me right away and provided professional advice. Ian was sincere and gave my case personal attention in a timely fashion. He closed my case in 5 months, the end result a legal agreement, signed by both parties. Working with Ian was
Ian Kalmanowitz did an excellent job on my case. I felt he had my best interest at heart throughout the entire case. I would highly recommend his services to anyone who needs legal help with employment issues.
I was faced with a difficult situation where a new manager in our organization was not only creating a hostile work environment for the division and department I worked in but also specifically began harassing and bullying me. I documented these increasingly frequent issues, bringing my concerns through the channels provided to me by my workplace. However, the situation just continued to worsen to the point this manager began actively sabotaging my work and also personally and professionally slandering me. After a workplace investigation, which found this manager to be in violation of both our own workplace rules but also federal discrimination laws, I was told my options were to keep working where I was at and the manager "promises to be better" or I would be transferred and for all intents and purposes functionally demoted. Mr. Kalamanowitz provided excellent guidance to me during the investigation of my claims as well as provided me clear options in regards to "fixes" offered by employer. While it was very difficult to leave my position as it required our family to leave the area for me to find new employment, he was able to obtain a solid severance package that compensated me for the situation I was put in and also helped our family move on.
I was served with a lawsuit from a former employee 6 years removed from my former business. I had since relocated and changed practices 3 times in the interim and had very little in terms of records, financial statements, etc. Even the bank had purged all my old accounts. Ian took my case over the phone so that I did not have to take time and money out of my current practice to return to Colorado Springs and deal with this situation. He navigated the legal waters and was able to help negotiate a settlement to resolve the suit, and was mindful to the expenses associated with this so that I didn't have to spend a fortune to resolve this complaint. I was very pleased with my representation by Ian Kalmanowitz. My only critique was that it was sometimes difficult to get a response from the office. I understand that this is a busy firm and that responding to emails and calls can result in additional billable time and in an effort to avoid charges, this was kept to a minimum. In total, I was very happy that I hired Ian to represent me in this matter.
I was referred to Ian Kalmanowitz with excellent recommendations from my former criminal defense attorney - to sue the company who tried to frame me and broke the law in doing so. I got an appointment with Ian, paid my $200 consult fee; he said we had a case and agreed to take it - but I never heard from him again after that consult. That was 6 months ago. His secretary blocked me from getting any messages to him over and over. Even the referring attorney contacted him several times - and Ian kept telling my other attorney he took my case and he just needed call me. He never did. After multiple calls and emails, and never a single response, I told him I wanted my money back - if they were going to lie, take my money, and disappear, then I want that money to use toward a new attorney who won't screw me over. Did I even get a reponse? No. Did I get my money back? No. I'm very upset by this disgusting lack of customer service and the thievery I endured as he took my money and did nothing with my case whatsoever. I would NOT recommend him to anymore. He'll take your money and then leave you out to dry. Very disappointed and hurt. I would be happy to retract my formal complaint if he were to refund my fee in full.
