Prior to the civil disobedience, my family had recently entered into an emergency of housing insecurity, that meant the usual obstacles of not being able (things like transportation) to do something like community service were further heightened to the point of impossibility. He and his employees at the office did not offer us any alternatives to completing the community service, and told us that we would get misdemeanors if we didn't complete the community service. I was in New Haven with no parental supervision, during a school break in which we don't have housing or the meal plan. They also did not provide a method for us to actually clear the misdemeanors from our records -- they told us to complete community service, but they did not tell us what organizations that community service with would official count for the courts. I think this was very negligent.
