About
My résumé, for the pragmatics: I began my career as a social worker in 1994, shortly after graduating from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. After almost five years in the social work field, working first with chronically mentally ill adults, but primarily with children and families, I decided to go to law school. I attended the University of Oregon, School of Law, where I graduated in2002 in the top third of my class. Following law school, I relocated to Reno, Nevada, where I began my career as a Judicial Clerk in the Family Court of the Second Judicial District Court for Washoe County, and continued working with children and families. Working on the inside of Family Court gave me a unique perspective into the practice, including the ability to see firsthand how judges respond to legal arguments and tactics. I was also able participate in the adjudication of virtually every issue that could be raised within the family courts. While I would never boast that I’ve seen it all . . . I’ve seen enough. After leaving Washoe County, I worked both as a contract attorney, helping other attorneys draft their argumentative family law pleadings, and also resolved special education complaints for the state of Washington before hanging out my own shingle. All told, I have over twenty years of combined experience in helping families through their difficult times. I like doing it and I’m good at it. For those who want to know more about me: I am a single mom; a divorcee and a widow; a loving and loyal daughter, sister, niece and friend. I have survived the loss of a spouse and a parent and despite being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis over a decade ago, I have never let it get the best of me. I am a runner, a snowboarder, a knitter, a humanist and, if I ever find the time, would love to be a foodie. If you’ve read the rest of my website then you already know this, I am obviously sarcastic. As I’ve already stated, I do not generally advocate for litigation as a method of resolving your domestic issues. But this is not the same thing as advocating for surrender or defeat. You didn’t get to where you are without effort. You tried, probably harder at this than at most anything else in your life. All that effort doesn’t have to be wasted, it just needs to be repurposed, and that’s part of what I help you do . . . figure out the most productive way to go on with your life.

Heather was extremely informative and did an amazing job for my case. She gave me all the important facts and came with an open minded approach to hear me out and the details of my case. She was more then fair on what i was charged.
I didn't know my husband was leaving me until I woke up one morning to see him moving out. I was in a panic, alone, unemployed, and with minimal funds. Heather was compassionate and took good care of my emotional issues as well as my legal/financial issues. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Heather is currenty my attorney representing me in a very nasty divorce and child custody case. Heather follows through on the things she says she will do. She does it well and she does it in a timely manner. She is not about taking every penny you have so for someone like me that has very limited resources, Heather is aware of that and takes that into consideration. However, she is always there if I need her, even at 8pm (as has happened before) when things get really ugly! She is very intelligent and well spoken. This divorce and custody battle has been one of the toughest things I have ever been through and God forbid, if I ever had to go through it again it would not be with any other attorney. I am so thankful that Heather is on my side of this circus... I would hate to be opposing counsel or client!!!
