Mr. Illikainen is a highly competent and skilled attorney. Although my child custody battle took two years to settle, he kept me informed, while being accessible throughout the process. He was a blessing during this period of my life. The amount of money I paid for his services were well worth it! I've had attorneys want to charge me more money just to start my case. He understood the complexities of my situation (deployed service member, with residence in another state, going through a divorce hearing in the state of residence). He always took note of my concerns and addressed them truthfully. He never made promises he could not deliver, and I respect that. In the end, he cared; I didn't get the feeling my case was about money, but about justice. I must admit, his then, office staff had issues with customer service and lacked competence, but his demeanor and professionalism overshadowed their negative qualities.
Mr. Illikainen is a great Lawyer. I had a custody case with him over a year ago, he was very well educated with the laws and help me out so much. I would hire him over and over again. Mr. Illikainen and his staff kept me well informed of my case and addressed all my concerns. I would recommend him to everybody.
My husband was represebted by him and in the end he still has charges left and the communication was none by him but his secretary was amazing at communicating with me and tending to our needs asap. Would i hire him again, no. I give him credit for the deal he got but still pending charges.
DO NOT hire this law firm. The attorneys are unorganized, unprofessional, and will NOT work for you. They are inept at their job and will take your money. You WILL NOT get results. I hired them for a divorce involving custody. I drove to Fayetteville,NC from Baltimore, MD for a pre court meeting. I gave Greg Illikainen information on 2 DUIs that my son’s mother had been invilved in, both only 7 months apart, and the 2nd one with my then 5 yo son in the car with her. I also gave Greg Illikainen information of an ongoing Social Services CPS investigation about the environment my son was living in. His mother and her boyfriend were ALWAYS drunk, and were verbally and physically abusing each other in front of him. I later found out that Social Services were highly concerned for my son’s safety, but before they could get my son out of there, his mother and her boyfriend moved away. When I drove down a 2nd time for the Temporary Custody hearing, Greg failed to bring any of his notes from our pre court meeting, he had not gotten any of the arrest documents, and had not contacted Social Services to subpoena the investigation file. This is just the beginning and I could go on about the incompetence of Greg Illikainen. The only regret I have is that I did not present all of the evidence to the North Carolina Bar Association, but still might. DO NOT hire this pathetic excuse for a lawyer. You WILL regret it in the end!!!
Took thousands of dollars from me and I got nothing in return when they came to my custody case. My daughters mother even said my lawyer was a joke
Hired for child support and custody. Continues to ask for money but no results and keeps pushing dates back. Does not follow through nor communicate and has not done anything for thousands of dollars. A half paragraph email costs hundreds everytime an email is sent. 6 months later and $5 lost. Now i have no choice but to go along with the other parties demands
I was very unhappy with Mr Illikainen from the start. I explained my case and position to him and he seemed not to really care at all. With such a quick turn around for my court hearing of domestic violence, I did not have any other options. There were charges against myself and my x for this case. I called the police on her, they came out and were going to arrest her, but I didn't want to press charges. The next day she pressed charges against me. It was part of his job to get the full police report with the narrative from the officers, and subpoena them to be at court. Since he didn't care or DO HIS JOB, he failed to get these things. Both him, and her lawyer suggested we drop both charges, stating that it's best for my career. So I dropped it. But I didn't do anything to begin with, and that police report would have shown that. I was pissed off about the whole thing to begin with. And I would never use or suggest anyone use Mr Illikainen in the future.
I hired this attorney to assist me with a legal matter I was facing in the Army. He supposedly is a military law expert and has worked as a military attorney. I can't speak to his knowledge of the law, except to say that when requesting counsel, he either ignored me completely, or responded with a ridiculously unhelpful and obvious answer. If I ask whether I should pursue course of action A or course of action B, and your response is that I can do either one, you are not providing me expert legal counsel and are, in fact, just wasting my time and money. Furthermore, you get the feeling that when you're in his presence he's just annoyed by you all the time and that's probably not a great way to treat the guy paying you. If you're looking for someone to help you understand the process or to aggressively represent you, this is NOT the guy. I found another attorney who was the polar opposite of this guy and got a great outcome. Look elsewhere for military law assistance. Thanks for nothing.
This has been my only experience dealing with an attorney and hopefully it will be my last! It is obvious the only thing this attorney is concerned with is the amount of money he can make off you. I was not informed of the happenings of my case. When I asked questions, I was charged for asking and then given the run around. In numerous occasions I was provided with incorrect information which in turn prolonged the legal process and costs me more money. Not only was the attorney not willing to look out for my interest, but the staff was rude. As individuals in a customer service position, they could certainly benefit from an attitude adjustment. I spent over $10,000 for nothing. This was a child custody/support case that should have been relatively easy. Instead, it costs me a small fortune and my interests were not represented. I highly recommend finding representation elsewhere. After this experience, I hope I never have to deal with another attorney. If I do, I hope they are not all the same.
