Gordon took care of my case with great care. He did an amazing job, and exceeded my expectations. In the end, I was able to get what I wanted, which was what was fair. I am very happy to have 50/50 custody of my daughter. Gordon was able to keep pressing for what was fair. We didn't give in, and the end result was awesome! Thanks.
I entered into an unexpected divorce in the spring and was referred to Gordon Phillips to use. Right after my first phone consultation, I knew I was in amazing hands. I cannot say enough about the time that Mr. Phillips took to go over everything with me from start to finish. He was thorough, polite, accurate, detailed but most of all, he talked with me like a friend and explained to me anything that I didn't understand and asked me great questions. He never made me feel rushed or inept when discussing legal terms, and this made our working relationship super smooth and any followup timely and complete. I honestly never thought this would go so smooth or so fast. I highly recommend Mr. Phillips if you want an attorney that helps you understand your situation, gives you great advice, simplifies things that you may have questions on and doesn't nickle and dime you. It was a pleasure working with him and his staff.
Mr. Phillips did an excellent job with my divorce. Mr. Phillips was very honest and upfront with me in regards to what I needed to plan for in regards to my divorce. He did not over promise or tell me what he thought I wanted to hear, he was very straight forward. His communication with me was great. Any questions or concerns I had he got right back to me that same day. During court he was straight forward with the facts and honest, I think the judge saw this and respected that. After court / judges decision was made Mr. Phillips helped me get set up with who I needed to contact and get me on the path to get the little stuff done after court. Mr. Phillips was also very good with his time, he did not overcharge or waste time to try and get more money out of me. During phone calls, emails, or meetings he made sure that we were quick and did not drag it out to charge me more. I would highly recommend Mr. Phillips to anyone that is going through a divorce. I have already passed his card out to other people that have asked about my divorce and are looking for a good lawyer. I can't thank him enough for making this painful process so easy.
Gordon handled a complex divorce, including custody issues, pension valuations and property division in a professional, thorough, and practical manner. Hopefully your case won't have to go to trial, but if so he is a fantastic litigator. I highly recommend him!
I retained Gordon Phillips after my complicated out-of-state divorce and custody battle proved too challenging for several others. He came highly recommend by a top Portland family law attorney. Over the next two years I was not disappointed. Mr. Phillips' extensive knowledge of the law allowed him to deliver better results than I thought possible. He is passionate about helping his clients. He listened to my opinions throughout the process and became a trusted adviser. Mr. Phillips is also responsive to client communications, which is rare in my experience. I feel very fortunate to have found him. I would strongly recommend Gordon to anyone caught up in a high conflict or complicated case where an extraordinary attorney is needed.
I needed to use Gordon's services after I filed for a divorce last year. From our first consultation, I knew I would retain his services for representation. Here is why: In that hour, I gained more information than I would have dreamed possible. My best guess is many attorneys would have used several hours to provide me with the same amount of information. After hearing of my situation, he guided me to use a mediator to help deal with a large portion of our case. In the end, this saved me a large sum of money. Whenever I was in need of guidance from Gordon, he responded to my outreach very promptly and professionally. Over the course of our case, I needed his expertise every bit as much as the services of the mediator. Gordon was very careful to not over utilize his services, he instead provided me with all of my options in addition to what he could offer. If you decide to retain his services, you can be rest assured that Gordon knows this area of the law extremely well. He does not play "dirty," but will also quickly assert himself on his client's behalf and not be intimidated by the other party's representation. Gordon was originally referred to me by a good friend (who happens to be a local attorney) who knows of Gordon's positive reputation. I feel extremely lucky to have had his representation during what was easily the most difficult time in my life. It would have been more difficult if I hadn't had someone who was comfortable standing strong on my behalf, knew the law so well and was willing to work alongside the mediator to help keep our process as calm as possible.
My experience with the legal system during my divorce was difficult, but I am so glad that I was referred to Gordon Phillips because I found in him a very effective combination of clear legal thought, determination and the ability to make a court follow his line of reasoning. These were invaluable to me as my ex-husband had seized all the assets of our trust and abandoned me and our three children. Even though the courts initially seemed prejudiced to listening to my ex-husband's unsupported claims, Gordon was able to persuade the court of their previous error, reinstate child and spousal support and ultimately win the case and recover enough of our assets to provide for my kids and me. To say that I could not have done it without him is an understatement. Throughout the whole ordeal Gordon was a pillar of wisdom, clarity and encouragement combined with a very good legal strategist and representative before the courts. He was always professional and firm in his approach and he did an excellent job of preparing me for our three day trial. The bottom line, when the court saw how well prepared we were, and how little actual evidence my ex-husband had, I won hands down. When you start out with a case most lawyers look at it and say no way, Gordon believed in truth and ethics and won the day in spite of apparent disadvantages. Semper fi.
Gordon handled our complex modification of custody case very well. Not only did we get a great result, he was judicious with our expenses and was able to help us create the most efficient strategy for our resources. Bend is very limited in good family law attorneys and Gordon is definitely one of the best in town. Highly recommend.
I had a consultation a few weeks ago with Gordon Phillips. I liked him. He assured me that the the modification I was seeking was fairly straightforward and said that I could try it myself or pay a lawyer a few thousand dollars to do it for me. In the consultation, we reviewed my current order and specifically talked about the firm that represented my child’s father in that case. I called back the next week to retain services, because this is intensely anxiety producing, and I’m having a lot of trouble navigating the paperwork and forms. I called back 3 times in about a week, leaving messages each time. Finally, the receptionist said that Mr. Phillips had left me a message saying that he was too busy to help me, and he recommends these lawyers. At the top of his list was the firm my son’s father had used. The one that we specifically discussed during our consultation. I understand being busy. I understand the need to limit the work load. I do not understand taking $275 from someone, telling them to call back if they need help, and then refusing to even answer messages.
After waiting 3 weeks for an appointment with Mr. Phillips, I was extremely disappointed to be treated with utter disrespect. Instead of listening to the issue, he berated me based on partial information. He then dismissed me saying he was not interested in representing me. Perhaps he was having a difficult day and I happened to be the unfortunate recipient of his anger.
