I would like to say to anyone that considers this man as an attorney, save your money and go to another attorney. I served 25-years in the Army and I met my spouse in Europe; after she refused to join me in the United States after I was transferred back to my own country, we slowly grew apart and needed to get a divorce. Army legal services had George Edwards listed as an attorney that can handle divorces when your spouse is a foreign citizen. I retained her services on April 6, 2015 when I wrote him a check for $3,000.00, but that was the end of things as I would find out down the road. I patiently waited 4½ years for my divorce take place and it never happened. I would call every couple of months and all I got was a “we are trying to get her served” and nothing else. Unfortunately, Mr. Edwards was apparently assaulted on August 7, 2019, but even before then, his phone would only ring when I would call his office, and eventually be disconnected, and e-mails to him went unanswered. Therefore, I went by his office only to find out that he no longer occupied space in the building. Other attorneys that worked there gave me his son’s cell but his son sternly demanded that I never call him again in reference to his father. Most of all, I was informed by another attorney that he can no longer practice as an attorney in the State of Virginia. He never followed up with me or told me anything about what came of my retainer fee or status of my divorce. I tried to take him to small claims court to get my $3,000.00 but they could not get him served. The only thing I got from him was an “I owe you” in the mail. Although retired now from active duty and after reading his reviews to discover that I’m nowhere near the only one that’s had issues with this particular attorney, I went back to the Army Legal Center at Fort Lee and demanded they take his name off of the recommended list of attorneys. I would go on to hire another attorney and I was divorced in 6 months. I feel ripped off and scammed by George Edwards. I say to anyone, save your money and get another attorney. Calvin B. Hudgens
I hired this attorney in a divorce case . He never did what he said he would do the entire time I dealt with him. He would say he would have something and then never have it done. Strung me along with - costing me more money than it should have. Was not prepared for court - and in fact never presented my paperwork to the other attorney that put me in jeopardy. I finally got smart and hired another attorney and in one week they were able to get more work done than he did in months . Do your homework before hiring
Stay away from this lawyer. You are just throwing your money away. I took him to court for failing to keep me informed of the law and I won. Took over 2 years but well worth the wait and money just to show that he did me wrong.
I was far beyond disappointed with this Attorney’s performance. On numerous occasions I called the office with an important question, my calls would be returned days and sometimes a week or more later. Once my case came to trial I was horrified at how unprepared he was. I took the time to write out any viable information I thought could help in my custody case. I do not believe any of it was read or considered by Mr. Edwards, for he fervently flipped through the pages the day of the trial stammering and stumbling over his words. Immediately following the loss of my case Mr. Edwards tells me, don’t worry, we can appeal. Personally I want my case tried properly the first time. What I expected was a confident well prepared attorney to fight for me, I received the complete opposite.
This person strung my case out for far too long refusing to follow my guidance. Documents almost always missed pages and had gross errors. Final separation agreement had false information and the excuse was that, "it was our "boilerplate" document and that item is in there on all of these things" I asked, begged, and pleaded for him to push my case to trial but he wouldn't. He somehow managed to milk $5500 out of me and I ended with the EXACT amount I had coming to me before I hired this man. I filed two complaints with the Virginia State Bar and likely will file another regarding his conduct. Towards the end of the matter-I felt more like he was the person I was fighting not my wife's lawyers. He sounded real impressive when I hired him. I'm retired Army, so I thought there was some type of brotherhood. Yeah-don't go kid yourself on that one. Once we reached the amount I told him I didn't want to go past, he all at once wanted to settle.
