Geoff helped us with our bankruptcy. He was very knowledgeable and really seemed to care about our situation. I would refer him to anyone.
I hired Geoffrey almost three years ago to represent me as the Respondent in my divorce. Early on, he failed to provide me with requested copies of my file. Then, he failed to repsond to motions by the opposing party's attorney for over 4 months, resulting in documents being filed into the court record that I never saw, nor was informed of. I finally had enough when Child Protective Services got involved in the case, and I wanted to file an ex-parte motion on child custody. We discussed the matter and agreed to file a motion on the following Thursday. The motion was not filed. I called the following day. No answer. I called the following monday. No answer. I called and emailed every other day for three weeks. No answer. I finally staked-out his office and ambushed him. He told me HE decided it was not in my best interest to pursue the motion, and he had been too busy to call me and discuss it. Following that debacle, I drafted a formal letter dismissing him from service and requesting an accounting of his fees against the retainer. I have yet to receive an accounting of his fees, nor a refund of any remaining retainer, despite numerous calls, e-mails and letters. It has now been over a year since I requested he send me those documents, and I have resigned myself to accepting that he will never comply. I have also requested he sign a substitution of attorney for the record, to which he has never responded. In summary, the only service Mr. Sutliff provided to me was about 1 hour of phone consultation, the filing of my response to summons, and one court appearance. These services cost me my $3,000 dollar retainer (which is rather inexpensive for a retainer). In my opinion, if you are looking for a lawyer in this price bracket, I would strongly consider In Pro Per and saving the lost money and time of attempting to get work out of Mr. Sutliff.
Hired Mr. Sutliff to represent me on a combination of BK and uncontested dissolution. My BK was completed appropriately within timeframe. However, my dissolution was filed 3/12 and that was the last thing Mr. Sutliff did. After numerous attempts, pleas and empty promises to complete my dissolution, I last heard from Mr. Sutliff at the end of May 2014. I am now filing a complaint with the bar.
Geoffrey Sutliff filed for my amicable divorce case over 2 years ago. He botched the filing of the court documents. He was unresponsive to phone calls, texts, or email. He didn't follow through with correcting the court documents.
I hired Geoffrey Sutliff for a child custody issue and would never use him again. It's been 2 1/2 years and he has yet to return my calls or reply to my emails. I STILL do not have a court ordered custody report because Geoffrey failed to turn in the minute order from our court date. I have returned to court 2 times on my own trying to obtain a copy of the custody order but was eventually told that my attorney has to turn in the minute order in order for me to get a copy. I do NOT recommend Geoffrey Sutliff to anyone. He was late to my court hearings and does not follow through with work he is supposed to do.
I hired Mr.Sutliff to file my divorce over a year ago I paid him almost $400.00 and have not heard from him yet. When I did hear from him he said my divorce will be finalized last year in July I have been trying to contact him for the last six month and he still have not returned my call he do not even respond to emails. He is not a client centered attorney.
Geoffrey made many promises and never delivered. I paid him a 2,000.00 retainer and in essence he took the money and ran. He never returned phones calls. I had to do all the footwork and file all of my own papers. When the big television news network took the news story, he was no where to be found to give any advice. I managed to successfully handle my own case from beginning to end.
