Gene S. Hou is an experienced and accomplished trial lawyer specializing in Personal Injury Litigation. Mr. Hou has devoted his entire legal career to handling injury cases, both for the prosecution and the defense. Having won numerous jury trials, Mr. Hou feels most comfortable and confident representing his clients in the courtroom. Mr. Hou has successfully handled various types of complex personal injury cases throughout the State of Missouri. He has extensive experience at every level of the litigation process: from the insurance claim stage, to filing suit, to arguing complex motions, to winning at trial and at the appellate level. Mr. Hou brings an unrivaled command of personal injury practice and a high level of expertise and experience in litigation and trial work.Mr. Hou earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Albion College, a prestigious private liberal arts college in Michigan. Mr. Hou attended law school at St. Louis University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree. Mr. Hou was admitted to practice law in the State of Missouri and is currently a licensed member of the Missouri Bar in good standing. Mr. Hou also holdsMaster’s Certifications in Business and Strategic Management from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business.After graduating law school and passing the rigorous bar examination, Mr. Hou began his career working for a small personal injury law firm in Clayton, Missouri. There, he represented injured victims of car accidents, slip and falls, dog bites, and other personal injuries. Mr. Hou then explored new opportunities to craft his talent for personal injury practice and trial work by taking up employment with a major Fortune 500 insurance company. Mr. Hou gained significant insight and knowledge of the inner workings of the insurance company and their handling of personal injury cases. Mr. Hou became promoted to the position of Senior Staff Attorney and oversaw various aspects of the insurance company’s claim and litigation operations. Mr. Hou supervised local and out-of-state law firms and attorneys in their handling of the insurance company’s lawsuits. He also was charged with the responsibility of making insurance policy coverage determinations, developing new processes for litigation management, and training claims adjusters in areas of claims investigation, medical/legal issues, negotiation techniques, and mediation. Mr. Hou provided legal advice and advisory opinions to both claims adjusters and upper management on complex legal and insurance matters. On top of these responsibilities, Mr. Hou maintained complete control over his own extensive caseload and trial practice. This very unique and vast insight into the insurance company’s operations, coupled with his extensive litigation and trial experience, allows Mr. Hou to perform at the highest level of advocacy and deliver maximum recovery for his personal injury clients.Mr. Hou has been involved in various legal organizations, such as The American Bar Association, The Missouri Bar, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Jefferson County Bar Association, Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms.Mr. Hou has authored articles appearing in legal publications, including the American Bar Association’s Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section. Mr. Hou lives in Fenton, Missouri with his wife and two daughters. He is a member of the United Methodist Church.
