About

Fred Haiman was born in San Bernardino, California to an Air Force family while his father was serving in the Vietnam War. Fred spent his early years traveling to several military bases including Clark Air Base in the Philippines and Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, where his father retired in 1970. After retirement, his father moved the Haiman family back to El Paso, Texas where they took over a family business. Fred graduated from Eastwood High School in 1982. His focus through high school was playing the trumpet in the marching, symphonic and jazz bands. After high school Fred started his collegiate career competing in Collegiate Rodeo, riding Bareback Bronco and playing Rugby for Southwest Texas State University, where he was selected for the Texas Select Team his senior year. He graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1986 (quite an accomplishment for those of you who know any Rugby players). After college Fred moved back to El Paso where he met his wife, Deana Lynnell Haiman, whom he married in 1989. Fred then started working on his Master’s Degree, and in 1989 he joined the El Paso Police Department where he worked until 1994. While working shifts as an El Paso policeman, Fred finished his Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in 1992. During his time with the police department, Fred worked as a patrolman, academy instructor, background investigator, and in traffic enforcement. He also worked on Research, Planning, Special Projects and was on a select team that designed and developed the Community Policing Regional Command Center concept that the El Paso Police Department still uses today. In 1994 he decided to go to the “dark side” (as his Police Chief liked to say) and quit the Department to start law school. He graduated in 1997 with his Juris Doctorate degree from Texas Tech School of Law.Fred spent the first 10 years of his legal career practicing as a trial attorney, litigating hundreds of civil cases in the areas of insurance defense, personal injury defense, premises liability defense, intrastate/interstate trucking litigation, nursing home litigation and labor and employment plaintiff and defense work, which included wage & hour violations, civil rights violations, constitutional violations, discrimination, American’s Disability Act violations, Worker’s Compensation retaliation, sexual harassment, Family and Medical Leave Act violations, administrative proceedings, employment contracts, labor relations/negotiations and collective bargaining. In 2007, God got Fred’s attention by almost taking his life due to a disease called Ulcerative Colitis, which resulted in a botched surgery and ruptured intestine. After that near-death experience, 6 surgeries and 8 months off work, Fred decided to completely change his law practice to an area where he could truly help people. He left the stressful pace of litigation and went to work for a small boutique firm that focused on Estate Planning and Elder Law.2009 brought about the opportunity to open his own law practice, which now focuses entirely in the following areas:Young Family Protection Planning – protecting families with minor childrenBasic Estate and Life Planning – Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, etc.Legacy Wealth Planning – protecting families and passing on their legacies for generationsMedicaid Planning – pre-planning or emergency planning for Medicaid benefit qualificationV.A. Benefit Planning – pre-planning or emergency planning for VA benefit qualificationSpecial Needs Planning – helping families with special needs family membersProbate – helping families administer the estates of loved ones who have passed awayGuardianship – helping families obtain legal authority to assist disabled or incapacitated family membersThanks to the numerous blessings that have come with this focused practice, in 2013 Fred decided to move his family and law office to the Dallas area where he currently has offices in Frisco, Texas.Fred has a tremendous love and talent for teaching. After his tenure as an adjunct professor for over 20 years, Fred has turned his love for teaching into a personal mission of educating families about the importance of proper estate and family protection planning. Fred speaks to community groups and offers numerous seminars and other educational events on all of the law firm’s focus areas.Fred and Deana have two beautiful daughters (yes, he’s a little biased). One of the main driving forces to move to the north Dallas area was to give his daughters better educations. They are currently attending school in Prosper ISD and are flourishing. One thing a near-death experience will do is help put life’s priorities in place, and for Fred, his number one priority in life is FAMILY!! He loves to golf and work outdoors, but most of all he is proud to be a husband and Daddy who is dedicated to the Lord. He is doing everything humanly possible to serve Christ in every capacity, even in the area of practicing law – where everyone in the Firm is dedicated to “Faithfully Serving God and Our Clients.”
