About
I like to describe my law practice this way--- as "practicing real law for real people." What does this phrase mean ? It means that my practice consists of handling the kind of cases most regular people have such as: --- Divorce and Family Law Matters --- Wills, Estate Planning and Probate Matters If you're looking for a big downtown Dallas firm, we're not that firm. If, on the other hand, you want to work with a lawyer who knows who you are and exactly what your issues are, we are that firm. You won't be handed off from one junior associate attorney to another as you would in a high dollar firm. Rather--- together we will work as partners in going through the legal process to handle the difficult legal matters that you and your family are facing. There is a lot to be said for being on a first name basis with your attorney. In my mind, it shows that your input, issues, and family are properly valued--- after all, it's your life--- not just a case. Once the current legal crisis is over, you and your family are not alone. Much as you might have a family physician, I consider myself a "family lawyer" and am looking forward to developing that long term relationship with you. This means that if you have a legal problem in the future, you will have the security of knowing who to call. While I am sorry to be meeting you under the difficult circumstances you currently face, I do look forward to helping you understand your options.....

Fonda has been my attorney for many years. Not only does she have my best interest at heart, her office is a "safe zone" where all are welcome! Her attention to details and her compassion are second to none.
I had a very difficult and complicated divorce situation with a spouse that had issues with addiction and time was of the essence. Fonda was very knowledgeable and kept me informed throughout the divorce process. Her legal fees were very fair and she made it to where I could trust in the fact that she was on top of everything. Her instructions and just overall demeanor is what helped me to get through my divorce with as little stress as possible. Divorce is hard in itself and you add in a spouse who has issues like mine..... I just can't say enough about being able to TRUST and how much that helped !
My name is Will P. and I write this endorsement for Fonda G. Fitzgerald because she did a great job on my divorce. I'm retired military medically disabled and got Fonda's contact information from a professor at my local Community College where I was taking some classes. Fonda's legal knowledge was outstanding ! She had me believing that the divorce process was SIMPLE--- which thanks to her it was. Initially, my ex-wife and I had considered trying to do the divorce ourselves....... but then I found out all the work that went into it, and the very many mistakes we could have made. I had a consultation with Fonda about the divorce process and the cost of having her do my divorce. I thought the cost of an attorney handling my divorce was going to be more than I would be able afford, but due to my situation (military medically disabled), she was willing to work with me. By work with me, I don't mean halfway either. I had to come up with the down payment (retainer fee) and she let me pay out the balance on a fee schedule that I could not only afford, but ON MY TIME TABLE TOO. The divorce process is complicated, but she broke it down into terms that I understood without talking down to me. She made me feel comfortable asking questions and having her explain things until I did understand them. She even helped me reach agreement with my ex-wife so that the divorce process was better for everybody. Fonda listened to me when I said I did not want to punish my ex-wife and that I wanted to do the divorce right-- she did not make a mountain out of a mole hill. So many people that are out there are out to just make a buck--- well, being that I live on my military disability alone, I can't afford for that to happen. I myself am a future law student if things go right for me, and I can promise you that the kindness and compassion that Fonda showed will be paid forward from me, once I pass the bar. I'm so glad I found Fonda, not only to help with my divorce, but to change over all my legal needs, i.e. my Will, the trust fund for my son, all of my estate needs ! I just can't say enough about how I was treated and the way she handled my divorce. If anyone wants to hear it from the horse's mouth, reach out to me and I'll answer any questions they have........
The practice of Fonda Fitzgerald has provided me with exemplary service and counsel. If you find yourself in the position of needing legal advice, it is important to be afforded quality service. I have received that. I always felt like my concerns were the concerns of both Fonda and her staff. I am confident and secure in recommending them to anyone I know. And I have already done so.
In 2006, I hired another attorney to help me with my divorce (not Ms. Fitzgerald). Two years after my divorce was supposedly finalized, I came to find out that the initial attorney who I had hired to do my divorce had been disbarred for several years and was practicing illegally. After much research, it was discovered that my "ex-husband" and I were not divorced at all, and we had lost quite a bit of money to the first attorney. Logically, this left me feeling leery and uneasy about hiring a new attorney. A good friend suggested Attorney Fonda Fitzgerald to help me rectify my situation. Fonda made me feel at ease and comfortable in hiring her to represent me in my divorce. I found working with Fonda was incredibly easy, her rates are affordable, and she personally called to inform me of any new developments with my case. I highly recommend her to anyone who is in need of legal services. Fonda is honest, compassionate, and keeps her clients' best interest at heart. Thank you Fonda for helping me during a very scary and difficult time.
I met Ms. Fitzgerald when she was President of the Carrollton Business and Professional Women's Club during a time when my mother's health began failing. Ms. Fitzgerald's demeanor with my frail mother, who had never been to an attorney to discuss estate planning documents, was especially appreciated. Ms. Fitzgerald drafted the necessary estate planning documents my mother needed at a time that was emotionally devastating for me. Little did I know how many times during the next seven years we would come to rely upon these documents during my mother's frequent hospitalizations and her years as a resident in a nursing home. The documents were especially helpful during all of the decisions that had to be made concerning my mother's heart attack, broken hip, special medications, and end of life decisions. I had all the documents that I needed, and I was able to make the decisions my mother desired. Also, when my mother died, Ms. Fitzgerald did not put me through any unnecessary formal and costly probate procedures just to boost her attorney's fees. We were able to keep it simple, and I am so grateful that Ms. Fitzgerald was my attorney during this grief-stricken time in my life. Her advice concerning my mother's outstanding debts was particularly helpful. Of course, my own documents were last drafted by Ms. Fitzgerald one year ago and my experience has been equally as good. Fonda Fitzgerald is more than a good attorney. She is a knowledgeable and highly ethical attorney that kept me informed and was responsive to all my questions. Ms. Fitzgerald also seems to have a calling to be of real help and real service to her clients, both emotionally and financially, when it is difficult for a client to think straight. I placed my trust in Ms. Fitzgerald during a very difficult time in my life and she did not let me down. I would highly recommend Ms. Fitzgerald to anyone needing estate planning or probate procedures.
While divorce isn't the answer for every relationship problem, it does sadly become the answer for some. I wish I had met and known Fonda under different circumstances. While my divorce was my own and unique to me, I understand that it was fairly common in the general sense. However, Fonda's level of professionalism and devotion to my case was beyond expectations. She listened to me and counseled with me with reason, logic and respect. She heard my concerns, my fears, my heartache as I watched my life unravel before me. When I was heated and felt like I was being unjustly treated, she was there to fight back for me as well as help me see the bigger picture - my family. Fonda is an incredible lawyer, who showed loyalty and knowledge to help me get through my case. She stuck by me even when I was ready to give up. I am forever thankful and grateful for Fonda as she has been an incredible lawyer and an outstanding woman. Thank you for everything.
Fonda sat with my wife and I and helped us through all of the questions and paperwork surrounding get our wills and living wills updated to this century. She outlined all of the tricky points of law in the paperwork for us so that we could go and talk about it together and decide just what we wanted to do. The nice part of about this is that she didn't have to charge us as we discussed it in her office. She gave us a price up front and stuck to it. She helped answer all of our questions and was quick to respond by phone or email when we needed additional information. Not only would I recommend her to other people, I have done so when others have needed legal assistance.
Mine was a simple no contest divorce with no debts, no accounts to split, no real estate to divide, everything agreed upon wrt the child, no back and forth with the other lawyer. She took several months just to draft the divorce agreement. She would call me telling me she wants me to be clear about the process, then keep me on the phone for an hour going over everything she was going to do. Then she would wait a couple of weeks, doing absolutely nothing. I would email inquiring when the draft would be ready. She would call me back spending an hour insisting that I hear about the process, rinse and repeat. I thought it would be done in under 3 k, she dragged it out and charged me close to 10 k!
