About
Felicia is actively involved in increasing diversity within the legal profession. Her committee involvement and panel participation includes: Committee Member and former Chair, Loren Miller Bar Association’s Philip L. Burton Scholarship Committee, 1996 to present. The Loren Miller Bar Association’s Philip L. Burton scholarship fund provides scholarships each year to third year ethnic minority law school students from law schools in the state of Washington. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to assist financially disadvantaged, third year ethnic minority law students in paying the high cost of attending a Bar Exam Preparation course and paying for Bar Exam registration fees, thus increasing their opportunities to succeed in passing the Bar Exam. Panelist, “Building a Book of Business” seminar for diverse attorneys, sponsored by the King County Bar Association’s Ethnic Diversity in the Legal Profession Committee and King County Bar Foundation, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008 (moderator) and 2012. The “Building a Book of Business” seminar offers tools and networking opportunities for attorneys of color with newer practices. In the seminar, successful diverse lawyers lead discussions with participants on how to more effectively market themselves and acquire new clients for their practices and firms. Panelist, “The Nuts and Bolts of Law Practice” training session, Washington State Bar Association Leadership Institute ("WLI"), 2006. WLI creates a training environment to accelerate skill development and cultivate leadership traits in young, diverse Washington lawyers. 10-12 young diverse lawyers are selected for this program each year so that the pipeline can be filled with new leaders who are trained and ready to serve. The diverse attorneys are chosen by the WLI Advisory Board. Panelist, “Challenges of Diversity in the Legal Profession – The Voice of Experience,” seminar, sponsored by the Puget Sound ALA Chapter’s Diversity Committee, 2008. In this seminar, senior-level diverse attorneys provided valuable insight to law firms and recruiters into recruiting and retaining diverse attorneys.
