About

I have been practicing law in the Champaign-Urbana area for more than 20 years.  My experience with the local courts, judges, attorneys, institutions and agencies, has given me a well-rounded understanding of optimal approaches to litigating cases, negotiating settlements, and advising clients about other resources available in the community. I address my client's concerns and objectives on an individual basis, and work to understand the most desired outcome for them considering legal, personal and family dynamics, financial, and individual needs.   I truly work WITH my clients. I make myself available outside of normal business hours to accommodate my clients' schedules and to minimize the impact on employment and other commitments.

Ellen was professional and precise when working against my ex wife's shady attorney. We remained calm and collected against multiple threats from the other attorney and ended coming out way ahead in my opinion. The divorce and alimony laws in Illinois are terrible, but I was happy with the outcome that Ellen was able to provide. She remained professional even when her counterpart did not and I appreciate that.

I hired Ellen Beattie to represent me in determining payments for post-secondary educational expenses for my children in a divorce case. Ellen was able to take my case on a very short notice --- just a day before a scheduled hearing. Thank you, Ellen! The matter was settled to my satisfaction within a couple of weeks. Throughout my interactions with Ellen, she was highly professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and effective.

Ellen has done 4 closings for me and taken care of my wills. She has always been very honest and helpful. Definitely will use her for any future needs.

We sought Ellen's help with drafting wills and related financial and health care documents during the time that my husband was terminally ill. She explained our options thoroughly, offered thoughtful suggestions that were perfectly in line with our needs, and finished everything quickly and accurately. She even brought witnesses to our home when it was time to sign. Flawless transaction

Ellen prepared a will and living trust for our family during a very stressful time when we needed expert and quick guidance. She was responsive and always available for questions, and came to us so that the documents could be executed. The person for whom she drafted the will was too physically ill to travel to her. She made sure that every base was covered, and she was there to answer our estate questions in the months following the family member's death. We were very fortunate to have her guidance and compassion during such a difficult time. I would highly recommed her services. She is also tenacious and fights for her clients. You know she's on your side.

I'm landlord by mistake of economy. Bought house in 2007, my company closed Champaign office. I had to relocate. Instead of doing foreclosure I rented house. Renters turned to be crooks and stopped paying rent and rejected  to move out of my property. I contacted Ellen Beattie for legal advise to evict them. She charged me $270 for 5day notice (which can be found on google search) and another couple of 100's for emails. Then she stopped to reply to emails. Shame.
