I hired Ms. Tuomey to defend me from a charge of "Reckless Driving," in Fairfax County, which in my case they had charged as a misdemeanor. Ms. Tuomey patiently explained how the system worked (particularly that hardly anybody charged with misdemeanor reckless driving goes to jail!) and charged me a fair, flat fee. On the date of trial, she met me at the courthouse and told me to sit tight while she talked with the officer who had issued the ticket. She came back half an hour later, and told me she was able to talk the officer into reducing the charge from a misdemeanor to a standard ticket, saving me a lot of money in fines and extra points on my license.
