About

Before beginning a career as a defense litigation attorney, Elizabeth clerked on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.  After her clerkship, she concentrated on insurance defense handling personal injury cases, toxic tort, asbestos, products liability, workers compensation, construction defects and ERISA. She also served as Assistant General Counsel to Harrah's New Orleans casino prior to its bankruptcy.  In 1997, she formed her own law firm with representative clients such as Federal Express Corporation, St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company, Burger King and other corporate clients. She has tried cases in  Federal and State courts, both judge and jury trials, obtaining several "zero" verdicts for her clients. In 2003, she was appointed Executive Counsel by the Louisiana Insurance Commissioner supervising a staff of attorneys and the fraud department. During her tenure, she personally led a fraud investigation and concurrent litigation against the largest bail bondsman in the United States who was responsible for writing over $41 million in one jurisdiction alone. The investigation involved massive document production and market conduct examination of two insurance companies. The federal investigation of the bail bondsman resulted in the RICO conviction of the bail bondsman, imprisonment of two state judges and the impeachment and removal of a federal judge from office.Elizabeth next career move was to in-house counsel at a Fortune 500 BPO and outsourcing company where she was responsible for managing litigation involving labor/employment, IT and BPO contracts, government contracts and bids (including bid protests), intellectual property, qui tam, compliance and ethics issues. She spearheaded numerous internal investigations of great importance to the company.  She was the company's first recipient of the General Counsel Award for Excellence in October 2007. More recently, she has served as the General Counsel to an Inc. 250 healthcare company.  In that role, she was responsible for handling all legal issues facing the company including but not limited to employment, ERISA, contracts, compliance, internal investigations, litigation management, outside counsel supervision, electronic discovery, regulatory, HIPAA and workers compensation.During her time as a litigation attorney and in her positions as in-house counsel, Elizabeth has been involved in complex litigation cases involving extensive collection of forensic electronic data. She is experienced in managing large scale document productions and coordinating electronic discovery projects.Elizabeth is an honors graduate of Howard University and Tulane School of Law. She is licensed in Louisiana and Maryland and admitted to practice in federal courts.

I had a consultation with Ms MacKay on a very complex issue which appears to be a class action issue. Instead of trying to milk as much money as she can out of the situation up front she chose to hear us out. While I am still organizing others to get on board it appears Ms MacKay will be the attorney to protect our interest.
