About
Edward I. Stein has been in private practice since 1971in Lake and Cook Counties. His practice is limited to family law, includingdissolution of marriage, legal separation, declaration of invalidity ofmarriage, custody and visitation disputes, tax and financial aspects of familylaw, premarital and post-marital agreements, contested trials and appeals, post-dissolutionlitigation, pre-divorce planning, divorce mediation, paternity suits, adoptionand domestic violence orders of protection. He has extensive experience invaluation and division issues regarding closely held companies, includingpartnerships, sole proprietorships and privately held corporations. Mr. Stein authored the “MaritalSettlement Agreements” chapter in the Family Law Handbook used by most Illinoislawyers for approximately 15 years. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyersin 1977. In 1978, he received anaward for his significant contribution to the education of the bar from theIllinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He has published numerous articles in the field of familylaw and has been featured in the National Law Journal, Money Magazine, ChicagoMagazine, Crain’s Chicago Business, The New York Times, and many otherpublications. He founded the“Lawyers’ Forum” column of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, where he headed apanel of 26 widely known lawyers. He has lectured extensively before the bar and the public and has been afeatured guest speaker on many television and radio programs in the area offamily law. Recognized as one ofthe nation’s best divorce lawyers, he is listed in the national directories ofWho’s Who in Executives and Professionals and Who’s Who in American Law. Serving primarily the North Shore, theLaw Office of Edward I. Stein is located on the boarder of Lake County and CookCounty at 5 Revere Drive in Northbrook, Illinois.
