About

For over 38 years I have assisted individuals and businesses in solving complicated problems. As one of the few Chicago suburban attorneys who handles Chapter 11 cases I have worked with many companies and individuals to obtain confirmed plans of reorganization.  Small business debtors may not take advantage of the new Chapter 11 provisions under subchapter V of Chapter 11 and get a confirmed Chapter 11 for those who meet the debt caps under this new provision in the Bankruptcy Code. Additionally, we can provide fresh start to individuals or couples in Chapter 7 Bankruptcies.  I have also handled thousands of Chapter 13 cases allowing debtors to reorganize their financial affairs or business to save their homes cars and other propoerty which may be lost if they filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.  We have also helped family farmers reorganize and get debt relief under Chapter 12. In addition to the financial and bankruptcy work I have represented many clients in complicated injury cases and have been successful in recovering millions in settlements and verdicts for seriously injured individuals.  These cases involve wrongful death, defective products, medical malpractice, drunk drivers as well as other negligence claims.I am admitted to practice in the following Federal Jurisdictions:United States Supreme Court; United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, United States District Court for the: Northern District of Illinois, Central District of Illinois, Northern District of Indiana; United States District Northern District Court Trial Bar.For additional information please visit us at:https://www.urbanburtbankruptcylaw.com/https://www.urbanburtcom/Please call me to set up a free consultation to discuss your legal issues.

I hired Ed from as the result of a referral from my family law practice. At the end of a very emotionally messy and financially devastating divorce, I had no other option than to file for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. My family law firm was very confident in Ed's abilities. Now at the end of that financial journey, I couldn't be any happier that Ed represented me. Ed walked me through the process step by step and gave me clear cut and concise expectations. The bankruptcy process seemed so daunting to me until he broke it down into a language that I could understand. Before the hearing, Ed let me know what I could expect from the trustee. He kept me calm and collected given the circumstance. As the hearing proceeded, I realized that I had been fully prepared and had nothing to fear. My bankruptcy was fully discharged without and unreasonable delay. Ed is extremely helpful to my family law attorneys in relaying the tedious details of bankruptcy law as it pertains to property and equity. Without question, he as offered to jump in on conference call after conference call to help them better understand how bankruptcy can impact certain aspects of divorce proceedings. I'm extremely grateful to Ed for his willingness to help on a difficult case with lots of moving parts and a rotating door of people. Without his help, I don't think I would have gotten through this ugly financial part as well as I have. Divorce is difficult enough without adding bankruptcy to the equation. Ed helped me to navigate through financial quagmire confidant that the same mistakes will never be repeated.

Ed worked very hard to get the best possible results for paying ALL of the medical bills from the car accident when I was a passenger in the car that was not at fault. Not only did all of the bills get paid but he worked extremely hard to also get a settlement for my pain and suffering which I can then use to help with my college education expenses. He kept me informed on how things were going with the 2 car insurance companies. Since this was the first time I have ever had to be involved with an attorney, it was great that Ed made it so that I had so little to worry about because he took care of everything for me and used terms so that I understood what was going on all of the time. I didn't have to keep on them about how things were going but he would keep in touch with me. I really appreciated the friendliness and honesty when working with him, I always felt that I could trust his judgement because he always put my best interests first. Thank you!!!!
