Douglas Lehrer is an insurance trial lawyer and partner with the law firm of Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer, S.C.  Doug's insurance defense practice spans the spectrum of insurance related issues, including defending insureds and their insurers in response to claims of personal injury, property damage and wrongful death.   Doug's experience includes the handling of countless lawsuits arising out of automobile collisions, slip and falls, product liability claims, toxic tort claims and construction and work site accidents.   Doug's insurance defense practice includes numerous defense verdicts following trial.  Doug has also had a long history of representing insurance companies on all types of insurance coverage disputes as well as defending insurers in response to claims of bad faith. In addition to his insurance defense practice, Doug has also gained extensive experience in litigating various insurance subrogation matters. Doug's subrogation practice includes the pursuing of property damage claims, fire loss subrogation, health (including both ERISA and non-ERISA) subrogation and workers' compensation subrogation in Wisconsin and throughout the United States. In addition to his practice as a trial lawyer, Doug is also active in numerous legal organizations, including acting as past chair and current co-chair of the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP).  Under Doug's direction, the Wisconsin Chapter of NASP was given the award of Chapter of the Year at the National Conference of NASP in 2004.  Doug spoke on ERISA subrogation matters at the NASP national conference in Austin, Texas in 2005. In addition to his role with NASP, Doug is also a member of numerous additional professional associations, including the Civil Trial Counsel of Wisconsin (CTCW), the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and the Wisconsin State Bar.  Doug has also lectured extensively before insurance company representatives as well as other professional organizations on various insurance related issues.Doug is licensed to practice law in the state of Wisconsin as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western District of Wisconsin.  Doug's primary practice areas include: general insurance defense litigation, insurance coverage litigation, uninsured/underinsured litigation, workers' compensation defense, workers' compensation subrogation, health subrogation, ERISA subrogation, products liability subrogation, general civil litigation and appellate practice.
