Over the course of his legal career Doug Leavitt has seen the business world from both sides of the table. As an attorney focusing on representing small and medium-sized companies he has counseled his clients in issues of corporate governance, finance, real estate and employer/employee relations. He is also, however, an experienced litigator. In this role he travels throughout the United States helping his clients recover monies lost through breached contracts, corporate mismanagement/breach of fiduciary duties and fraud, as well as litigation involving enforcing covenants not to compete and related injunctive relief.This background as both trusted corporate advisor and corporate watchdog gives him, and the firm of Danziger, Shapiro & Leavitt, a uniquely deep understanding of the legal issues facing small and medium-sized companies. Mr. Leavitt is extremely sensitive to the financial pressures facing all business owners and the need to balance the legal approach to the economic reality of his client’s particular situation.Mr. Leavitt began his legal career at a small Philadelphia firm before moving on to the Philadelphia offices of Saul Ewing and Pepper Hamilton. By the time he joined Danziger, Shapiro & Leavitt in 2003 he had become adept in the handling of sophisticated business bankruptcy cases, particularly those involving foreign assets and divisions.Married, and a father of three, Mr. Leavitt resides in Horsham, Pennsylvania and is active in local charities and organizations. In particular, he offers pro bono (free) legal services to all of Horsham, Pennsylvania’s police officers and their families. When not working Mr. Leavitt enjoys spending time with his family and in particular coaching his children’s various athletic teams.Mr. Leavitt was educated at the University of Rochester and at Syracuse University’s College of Law. He also holds an LLM in taxation from Georgetown University. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Washington DC.
