I’ve never had to deal with a child custody case and I was a nervous wreck. I contacted Dixie Brown who was referred to me by a previous lawyer for a different situation. Dixie was very professional from the first point of contact. Dixie listened to what was going on and explained to me what the possible outcome could be. I was served by the father of my son for a child support reduction and custody/visitation agreement. I told Dixie I wanted sole custody and my sons father could have supervised visitation. Dixie filed the motion for what I asked for and also told me it’s very rare that courts award sole custody with long term supervised visitation. Dixie said we were going to fight for it but also wanted me to know it’s rare that it gets awarded and made sure she went over other options that could be granted. It’s crazy because courts really favor coparenting in Louisiana. I had so many questions and was emailing Dixie all the time. Dixie responded each time and also took my calls when she was available. My court date kept getting pushed back so I was all over the place with emotions. I just wanted this to be over. Dixie was always on time for court and tried her best to get it to move forward. It was issues with the courts so it was out of her hands. I did my part far as gathering all my witnesses and any documents Dixie requested. I finally went to court last week and I was awarded SOLE CUSTODY of my son and his father has to have SUPERVISED visitation. I couldn’t be more happier. I can’t thank Dixie enough for being there for me every step of the way. If you need a lawyer please hire Dixie Brown. You won’t be disappointed.
I've never had to use a lawyer before, for any reason - so was clueless about the procedures going into a child custody case. Not only was Dixie beyond informative, she made the entire legal process understandable and simple. She gave me exact instructions and would be quick to answer any questions I had so that I was well prepared on the day of court. Things could not have gone more smoothly in regards to my case. I will be forever thankful of Dixie's help!
It is so nice to know that this world still has not only competent but caring lawyers! Dixie Brown handled my divorce and always kept me up to date, took the time to always answer my questions until I fully understood. She was timely in every step of the process, never leaving me wondering. I was so stressed before I started the divorce process and once I contacted her, she truly put my mind at ease and the stress seemed to disappear. I would recommend Dixie Brown to anyone that wants the best on their side.
Ms. Brown aided me with the separation of community property. She talked me through the whole process, letting me know what all the options and possibilities were. She was very diligent with getting paperwork filed quickly as well as communicating quickly. I felt comfortable through the whole process. I truly felt like I had her in my corner and she would help me with any issues that may have arised.
Ms. Brown is a wonderful attorney. She advocated for me and she was ready and willing to do whatever it took for a winning outcome for me. She always kept my child's best interest in mind as well as mine. She was always available whenever I had an issue. She handled my case with courage and commitment and I really needed someone who was courages with me during such an emotional time. I truly appreciate her. She is heaven sent!
Ms Brown handling of my custody case with my two sons was a win for me and my boys. After bringing my x to court several times each outcome was satisfactory. Nevertheless I have custody of my sons now and the mother has supervised visitation.
Dixie was able to get my adoption of my daughter completed. Her biological father is out of state and very hard to contact, by Dixie still succeeded to get the adoption done. My husband and I are very pleased and definitely a weight had been lifted off our shoulders.
I had a consultation with Dixon Brown by phone concerning child support. My ex was taking me back to court for a increase on child support. I contacted Dixon Brown to find out my options for fighting the child support. She started by reading the Louisiana state law concerning child support, which I had already read myself. This lasted quite a while and was no help. Anyone could look that info up and read it. She then asked about my finances and told me "Well, if you don't want to pay more child support, you shouldn't make so much money." I then explained to her that I had been paying for other things on my own accord in addition to the ordered child support. I wanted this to be taken into account. She told me "The law is pretty black and white. You will pay what the state orders based on you and your ex's income." She was very cold and impersonal. The consultation was supposed to be an hour long, but lasted only about 35-40 minutes. I was not even refunded for the unused time. So, I spent 250 dollars for nothing. I ended up getting another lawyer who did give me options to fight back. We gathered all the receipts and info to take into account everything I had paid in addition to the child support. It was not as "black and white" as Dixon Brown said it would be.
