A couple months ago I received my first ticket with a 4 point penalty and a fee of around $185. I didn’t know anything about how the traffic system worked and i’ve never been in a court before so I choose to be safe and have a lawyer represent my case. After calling multiple lawyers I almost decided to go represent myself in the court because they didn't seem to be interested in the details, nor did they ask me to meet them in person to discuss my concerns and the plan of action, all they asked for was a copy of the ticket and a check with money. She had no family in-state and did not leave a will, so I had to find a way to settle her estate from afar. My father left me a certificate of deposit for Charter One Bank-my uncle and aunt withheld the CD from me. The CD was sent to the Unclaimed Property for the State of Michigan.
