I met Dawn when I worked for a large new construction company and she handled all of the legal documents for the business and it’s properties. Dawn was always responsive. When I found myself needing a divorce, she got me into her office quickly and was a huge help, even when the QDRO was not going smoothly, she stuck with it until everything was resolved. I also went to her for advice on an eviction and a child custody issue. She always got me in and was honest with me about the processes and potential outcomes. In one particular instance she was unable to represent me, but gladly got my family pointed in the right direction with a highly rated attorney that was able to step in immediately. I am thankful for the work she has done both in business and in my personal circumstances!
We have used Dawn to buy and sell numerous properties. We have also used her for personal matters, setting up LLC ect. She is always very professional and does a great job and goes above and beyond. If you use her you will be very pleased!
I would not suggest to use Dawn. I was in need of a simple real estate sale contract and the normal counseling that goes with that process. Dawn Takekawa was very difficult and frustrating to work with. She is extremely not responsive to answering questions and completing tasks. During a matter that was moving quickly I would lose contact with her for up to 2 days at a time. I called and left an email and it could be 1 or 2 days later that she would get back to me. When she did communicate back she did not provide all the responses requested. When she would eventually feel like calling me back she didn't leave voice messages so I did not know it was her. I was direct with her and let her know I'm frustrated by the long delays in communication and no timeline for when she was going to complete the long awaited document. She suggested that I move on to another lawyer. That was the best advice she could give because another firm completed the entire contract in half a day. I gave them no indication I was in a hurry at all. They just completed the job and communicated with me within normal expectations.
Ms. Takekawa was hired to oversee a family members affairs. She was terrible at communication and follow up. Phone calls and emails from creditors, my family members assisted living facility, and family would go unanswered for weeks at a time. She would say she was going to do something, but would never follow through. She was very defensive, confrontational and rude when questioned about her lack of attention to the matter. She made it clear that this case is a burden to her. Instead of removing herself from the case, she continued and her lack of action has caused our love one to be responsible for thousands of dollars in extra expenses. Stay far away from this attorney.
