About

Matt Knipe represents persons who have been charged with crimes, or fear pending criminal charges, in order to uphold the Constitutional foundations of our country. Matt believes our justice system is constructed better than any other in the world. However, he has seen its imperfections and observed the government’s use of loopholes to the detriment of clients. Matt closes the government’s loopholes and forces them to engage in the fair and impartial administration of justice rather than using any means necessary to “win.” He is devoted to seeking out, and obtaining, favorable results aligned with the interests and needs of his clients.Matt’s experience in both state and federal court have provided him with the experience needed to effectively fight for clients who are facing criminal charges or are under investigation for an alleged criminal offense. He begins every representation with the Constitutional foundation that the client is presumed innocent and retains the presumption of innocence throughout the criminal justice process. The government must prove its case without exception, and Matt forces them to do so.Prior to joining the firm, Matt worked as a defense attorney at McCarthy & Hamrock where he focused his practice on defending persons accused of crimes in State and Federal courts in Iowa. He has maintained active memberships in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and the Iowa State Bar Associations. He received his Juris Doctor from Drake Law School and also earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Drake University.Matt has been a United States Marine for over a decade and swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. He embraces the same mentality he swore to uphold as a Marine, and applies it as he fights for his clients. He demands legitimate justification for all actions taken related to his clients. Although prosecutors can get wrapped around seeking a “win” rather than seeking justice, Matt recognizes that and vigorously fights against it.

I hired the firm because of their strong military ties. My attorney listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. In my case we decided to plea to a lessor charge. However, a part of me wanted to fight the charge based on the confidence I had in my attorney. He was very knowledgeable of the law and his defense gave me great confidence in his ability. In the unfortunate event I ever need an attorney again I would not hesitate to enlist his services again.

What a great attorney Matt is! He is upfront, honest and will help in any way he can! I was wrongly accused and he got the charges dismissed before trial! So glad he was in my corner!
