I cannot say enough good things about Dave (and Leane). Dave is a superb attorney. He does a thorough job and gets results for his clients. They communicate very well with the client and address all questions promptly, completely and courteously! Dave and his staff are not only a terrific law firm that can be counted on to do a great job, but I also now consider them friends, as well! I strongly recommend Dave Rhodes!
Let me start by saying that no one with right mind wants to get in trouble but sometimes things happen. Mr. Dave Rhodes and his paralegal (Leane) helped me in couple situations in Christiansburg County. Mr. Rhodes was polite, professional and gave me clear options. His team is also very professional and gave periodic updates for the progress. I would definitely recommend Mr. Rhodes and his team.
Mr. Rhodes defended me through a fairly significant charge and ultimately proved extremely capable. He seemed to have an unusually excellent grasp on the legalities surrounding my charge and walked my family and I through every step in the process. Though resolution took time, I felt like he held the reigns and professionally saw it through. He obviously has a professional relationship with a number of people (law enforcement and court personnel) and they seemingly respect his ability. I cannot stress to people enough that once you have such an expert on your side - that things take time. He deliberately slows down a process that otherwise would chew you up and spit you out - because he's leveling the playing field. I believe he was a JAG attorney and was a previous commonwealth's attorney - he knows what he's doing. His costs for my case were seemingly high - but we quickly learned that you cannot put a price on the resolution he brought for us. At times, we (my family and I) felt like heels were dragging, but I believe that is our general expectations of "fix it NOW" mindsets. This is certainly not a reality in a court system. Now that the case has been resolved, the time actually flew by and could not have POSSIBLY had a better outcome. Furthermore, in the media, we see a lot of attorneys "go for the throat" and fiercely battle. This is what we expected to happen, but quickly found out that he tactfully, precisely handled the situation instead. If you need a criminal defense attorney and want to get the "best," I simply believe David will exceed your expectations.
I used Mr. Rhodes for a "Wreckless Driving" charge that I received while passing through Virginia (I live in FL and have never driven through VA). I was given a wreckless for driving over 80mph on the interstate, which is a criminal offense in VA (not like FL unless going 30+ mph over speed limit). I hired Mr. Rhodes via phone and he and his assistant Leane both seemed very nice and knowledgeable on the wreckless driving laws. I hired him for this case and he went to court and made a "deal" to keep me from doing 90 days in jail (which is ridiculous to me for a speeding ticket) and to have it reduced without points. He called me and said that the deal was I take a 8hr in person driving class so no points would be added to my license (which I was told is up to the DMV not the court's deal), pay $500 fine and any court costs, as well as work 50 community service hours. I took this deal and was never notified that I would be on probation in VA for 6 months, have to pay a "Probation Monitoring Fee", Would be required to do a certain amount of CS hours per week (which is hard when you work 50hrs a week and have no license) or would violate my probation and deal would be no good, and that I would have a return court date at the end of my 6 month probation. I did complete my CS hours on time given and have reached out to both Mr. Rhodes as my attorney, and Leane as his assistant as to which I am both of their client, to see about the court date coming up to make sure he was still representing me in place of my having to go to VA, and also so I could find out where I pay the $500 fine. I have been told by my probation officer to talk to my attorney because she and the court records show nothing of me owing $500, just court costs, which I already paid. I have contacted the court and they have told me to speak with my attorney. I have emailed and called multiple times and have not gotten any help or answers. I am worried about not being able to pay this fine on time due to no direction, not sure if points will be added to my license or if this will show up on my driving record as a wreckless or not, and worried that I will have to spend hundreds more dollars to fly to VA, get hotel, miss days of work, to go to the court date which is still part of this case. Since I hired Mr. Rhodes for his services on this case and this case is not over, I feel like he has dropped the ball on his duties as my hired representative and I do not like being left out in the dark. I am sure he is a great attorney there in VA but I feel like I did not get all the upfront details nor am I getting follow through service.
