David Lucas is well founded in technology and legal strategy, blending his operational experience with legal advice on intellectual property, international trade and complex litigation. David has experience in a wide variety of technologies and strategic legal matters, much of which was accumulated as general counsel for Intergraph Corporation, a multinational technology company. He is credited with Intergraph’s global intellectual property licensing and litigation strategy, which resulted in the recovery of $1 billion from patent enforcement actions against Intel, Dell, HP, IBM, Texas Instruments and others. In recent years, David has expanded his experience into the burgeoning biotech industry as general counsel for a clinical laboratory software company and as a member of the HudsonAlpha Institute foundation board. David has acted as primary legal advisor to multiple CEOs, COOs and CTOs. For over two decades, he has advised various public and private boards of directors on an array of legal, strategic and operational issues. He has also maintained U.S. Department of Defense top secret clearance, essential for government and security work. He utilizes his direct working relationships with various agencies to advise clients on special U.S. secret needs. David has extensive experience with other compliance environments, including export control, anti-bribery, privacy and special security requirements. He advises on the development, implementation and enforcement of compliance programs, as well as the harmonization of U.S., U.K. and European regulations. He has also helped define and implement worldwide legal processes, including representing companies in a variety of proceedings throughout the U.S. and abroad. His experience and track record are underpinned by his legal acumen and credentials. He is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (U.S. patent appeals) and 11th Circuit, and various district courts, and he has litigated intellectual property cases throughout the U.S., the U.K. and Europe. Based upon his multijurisdictional experience, David has developed associations with renowned legal counsel worldwide – critical to providing real time multijurisdictional protection of trade secrets and other intellectual property. David is also a certified mediator, contributing author to various legal publications, and presenter to the American Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, Alabama State Bar, American Legal Media, Federal Bar Association and the University of Alabama School of Law.
