About
David Ellis is an attorney in the Tampa Bay area, Florida practicing copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, and intellectual property law; computer, cyberspace and Internet law; business, entertainment and arts law; and franchise, licensing and contract law. A graduate of M.I.T. and Harvard Law School, he is a member of the Florida Bar, Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law, and a registered Patent Attorney. . He is also a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, for which he is a National Lecturer; the American Bar Association's Sections on Intellectual Property Law and Science and Technology; the American Intellectual Property Law Association; the Florida Bar's Sections on Business Law and Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law; and Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. Dave has lectured and presented continuing legal education programs to a variety of groups throughout the United States, including Cornell, Duke, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Syracuse and Interamerican University (Puerto Rico), and the Universities of Tennessee, Florida, South Florida, and Central Florida, and Florida International University, the Florida Bar, and business, professional, arts and entertainment, and technology groups. Dave is the author of the book, A Computer Law Primer, and numerous articles in legal, business and technological publications, including the Florida Bar Journal, and "The Data Bus," Florida's computer and technology journal, for which he wrote a monthly column on Computer Law for many years.
