About

When I was in law school, I choose a small bankruptcy boutique firm (then Anderson and Robinson, P.A.) to work for one summer.  I knew virtually nothing about bankruptcy; I chose the firm because I liked their approach to hiring--they were honest about the work their summer clerks would do, and the lawyers they would be working with.  Before the summer was out, I had truly found my niche--the work suited me, and I was comfortable with the Code-based practice.  I've never practiced in any other field. After law school, I clerked for two bankruptcy judges in the Western District of Louisiana, and then returned to private practice in South Carolina, including a number of years with the same firm I clerked for during law school.  I worked with Bob Anderson and John Fort, both Chapter 7 panel trustees, and represented other trustees as well.  I also represented debtors in Chapter 11 cases as well as consumer cases.   In 1997 I had the opportunity to return home, to Spartanburg, where I grew up.  As I was about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime--the adoption of a baby girl--the prospect of returning home was irresistable.  I started my own practice in 1998, primarily devoted to representing consumers in bankruptcy cases, but also branching out to work on the occasional Chapter 11 case.   My practice is small.  My walls are decorated with hand-made art work--my daughter's--and my desk is covered with pictures (and, to be honest, cluttered with files).  I am committed to treating each client as an individual, and crafting a solution that is right for that client, whether that means filing a bankruptcy, trying to work out settlements, or recommending a different course of action altogether.  I also try to make my clients comfortable with the often unfortunate situation they find themselves in. *****Regarding any endorsements or testimonials in my profile, South Carolina Rule of Professional Conduct 7.1 requires this notice: "Any result the endorsed lawyer or law firm may achieve on behalf of one client in one matter does not necessarily indicate similar results can be obtained for other clients."
