About
A Tuscaloosa native, Cynthia attended Tuscaloosa City Schools and graduated from Central High School. She attended Vanderbilt University and The University of Alabama, receiving her undergraduate degree from Alabama. Cynthia then went on to attend and graduate from The University of Alabama School of Law. Cynthia worked for three years in private practice after graduating from law school before returning to The University of Alabama School of Law as the Director of Development. Cynthia then went on to serve as the Assistant Dean for Advancement at the law school, and later the Assistant Dean for Career Services. She returned to private practice in 2006 as an Attorney at Rosen Harwood. She started her current practice, Cynthia Lee Almond LLC, in 2008. Cynthia currently serves on the Tuscaloosa City Council as the Councilwoman for District 3, a position that she has held for 10 years. She is the Chairperson of the Finance Committee, Vice Chairperson of the Public Safety Committee, and a member of the Litigation and Insurance Committee. In addition to her role as Councilwoman, Cynthia is very active in the Tuscaloosa community. She serves on several local boards, including the West Alabama Regional Commission, First National Bank of Central Alabama, the Capstone Health Services Foundation, and the Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission. She is a graduate of Leadership Alabama - Class XVIII, past Chairwoman of the Cultural Community and Livability Committee - Chamber of Commerce, and a past board member of Ol'Colony Golf Association and Big Brother/Big Sisters. Cynthia is married to Brad Almond, and they have two children. Cynthia and her family are active members of the First United Methodist Church where Cynthia has previously served as Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees, Administrative Board, and the Youth/Parent Team.
