Courtney Fauntleroy's primary practice areas are criminal defense, traffic, civil rights, employment discrimination, and personal injury. He represents clients in state and federal court, and routinely handles cases that range from felonies and misdemeanors, wrongful termination, civil rights violations, contracts, wills and estates, and personal injuries. Representative matters include the successful defense of drug possession cases, the successful defense of assault cases, domestic violence cases, successful settlement of civil rights cases, employment discrimination cases, estate matters, and multiple vehicle accidents resulting in personal injury. Courtney began his legal career as an associate with the small firm of Alfreda M. Williamson, in Raleigh, NC. He routinely represented individuals against employers, gaining significant experience handling employment law cases as well as Administrative Procedure cases. After leaving Alfreda M. Williamson, Courtney formed his own law firm, The Fauntleroy Law Firm practicing as a general practitioner with a focus on real estate. The firm had offices in Raleigh, Durham and Greensboro, N.C. His firm represented individuals and small businesses in residential and commercial real estate closings throughout North Carolina. Courtney has been representing criminal defendants in Durham and Wake County since 2002. Courtney graduated from the Duke University School of Law in May 2001, and also earned an A.B. from Duke in 1995. He majored in both Political Science and African American Studies. In law school, Courtney was a Vice-Chair of the Moot Court Board, and in 2000, a member of the team that advanced to the National Moot Court Competition sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers. Courtney currently serves on the Southeastern Regional Board of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc serving as Regional Legal Counsel. Courtney is also a member of the Duke University Greek Advisory Council, assisting the University with policies related to greek letter organizations.
